SWINDON TOWN: Focus switches to Orient after postponement - Thompson
3:30pm Saturday 26th January 2013 in STFC News
Nathan Thompson
NATHAN Thompson said the Swindon Town squad were disappointed that their trip to Tranmere was postponed but he stressed that their focus has quickly switched to Tuesday night’s visit to Leyton Orient.
Town’s clash with Rovers was called off at lunchtime on Friday due to a frozen pitch at Prenton Park, as the mouth-watering contest between first and fourth in League One became the only fixture in the division to be affected by the elements.
Unbeaten in two month, the Robins were buoyant in the week leading up to matchday, but instead Paolo Di Canio’s squad had to settle for an indoor training session on Saturday morning.
Thompson relayed the players’ frustration, but he stated that all eyes are now squarely turned to the game against Orient next week.
“It’s disappointing. The boys were geared up to play up there,” he said. “After the form we’re in at the moment in time I felt we could have gone up there and got the three points. It’s disappointing but we’ll just gear up and go again Tuesday and we’ll need another big performance on Tuesday.
“There are a lot of fixtures coming up but we’ll get ready for Tuesday, it’s another massive game for us. We had another good session this morning and it’ll be the same tomorrow.
“It is frustrating (training indoors) but at the same time the facilities we’ve been using are incredible. The quality there is incredible. So it doesn’t change our preparation in any shape or form, the same work is just done indoors so it makes no difference to us at all.”

1. Due to the match being postponed I am going to extend the cut-off time for all entries until Midnight on:
==>
- Monday 28th January.
==>
...so two more days!! :-)
---.
Feel free to adjust anything you've already entered.....I'll take the last post from everyone as their official entries.
====.
2. Please see some adjustments as I missed a block of about 6/7 entries for the Bournemouth match - must have had an update issue on that particular day to miss so many.

Hi there Okus - On a recent contract I'd have been laughing but trying to get there now midweek is almost impossible for me.

Got back from Birkenhead at 4.00 this afternoon, it was a lovely morning up there when we left and there was no frozen ground, stuck a stake in the grass myself, totally soft underneath. Moore didn't want to play this game because his captain and top scorer were both unavailable through injury. We've been stiched up again just as we were by Orient and Colchest over Christmas, maybe It could happen once that ours are the only game called off, but 3 times always when the opposition have injuries and suspensions or just bad form. for me it's is too much of a coincidence for these games to be called of because of the weather. I hope we give Orient the stuffing they deserve on Tuesday and the same to Colchester the following Tuesday.
....
The others I tend to agree - L.Orient was probably down to the fact that they wouldn't pay anyone overtime to help sort the pitch on Christmas Day and Boxing Day....convenient to them as well plus Tranmere just stinks of pitch mis-management....on
ly two games off in total and just so convenient to them - now a night match with fewer away fans.

Anyway - Onwards and Upwards to quote that fine poster!! :-)

Having said that, even if they win they are still behind us on Goal Diff but have played 2 games extra....Coventry and Walsall are also on 30 games so no better off really.
...
Need to win Tuesday to get that game in hand counting for points on the board - only MK Dons and Yeovil playing that night (each other as well so a draw please).
