Town's trip to MK Dons set to be rescheduled Town's trip to MK Dons set to be rescheduled

SWINDON Town's trip to MK Dons looks likely to be rescheduled after the Dons reached the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The two teams are due to meet at stadium:mk on Saturday, February 16 but that is the date set aside for round five of the world's most famous knockout competition, which MK secured their place in thanks to a 4-2 victory at QPR this afternoon.

Swindon already have rearranged midweek trips to Leyton Orient, Colchester and Yeovil to negotiate before the season's end, while the postponed visit to Tranmere is expected to be played on a Tuesday night.

Like a mini winter break!

Could be useful for the run in as far as rest and restored energy is a factor.

1. Due to the match being postponed I am going to extend the cut-off time for all entries until Midnight on:

Feel free to adjust anything you've already entered.....I'll take the last post from everyone as their official entries.

2. Please see some adjustments as I missed a block of about 6/7 entries for the Bournemouth match - must have had an update issue on that particular day to miss so many.

Happy with that as they'll have had their big cup match on the previous weekend - would be pleasantly surprised if they do as it would suit us better.
...
They've already got 4 games to catch up + the F.A. Cup date so the sooner the better, although with all the games they have in hand the later the game is may mean that they are starting to suffer from fixture congestion and tiredness.
...mind you it's their only free Tuesday until 9th April (excluding the pre-Bank Holiday Tuesday)....so not a lot of choice for them really.

I see MK Dons now have Ryan Harley who is impressive. He was a big part of ECFCs relative success 2007-2010 before he went to Brighton (where they didnt seem to play him much). Now he is back down a level i'd be interested to see how we handle him when we play them. As an aside it was his goal on the last day of the season in 2010 that saved ECFC from relegation and sent Gillingham down which was nice...

Hey lads,

This is the response by FL Paper:

SWINDON Town have released a statement in which they reveal they have accepted an apology from the Football League Paper regarding an article published on Sunday.

The piece, by staff writer Chris Dunlavy, suggested the club committed "financial doping" and "virtually cheated" their way to the League Two title last season.

Town also confirm that the Football League Paper will pay damages.

The statement read: "Swindon Town Football Club have today accepted the following apology from the Football League Paper following the article which appeared on Sunday 20th January.

A letter was issued to the paper on Monday, demanding a retraction of the article, allied to an unreserved apology and a request for damages. All of these have been agreed to by the Football League Paper."

Swindon also made public the apology sent by Mr Dunlavy, which reads: "Dear Sirs, I am writing to offer my unreserved apologies for my article in the Football League Paper on Sunday 20 January under the headline 'Swindon Town: The 'cheats' who really prospered'.

It has been made abundantly clear to me by Swindon supporters that I have made a grave misrepresentation.

Swindon Town's debt is owned 98 per cent by Andrew Black, the owner of the club, so no-one has 'gone unpaid' as I wrongly suggested.

My intention had been to raise the wider issue of insolvency and debt in football, and more precisely the need for clubs to move towards self-sustainability.

I saw Sir William Patey's reported comments about administration and used this as the basis for my comments.

I chose the wrong target and for that I am genuinely sorry.

Chris Dunlavy"

Football League Paper editor in chief, David Emery said: "Chris Dunlavy is a fine young journalist who on this occasion allowed his crusading instincts to obscure the true facts. It is a harsh lesson.

"Another regret of this unhappy episode is that, until now, Chris had always enjoyed good relations with Swindon and found the club to be both helpful and accommodating."

In addition, the Football League Paper will make a £500 charity donation to Swindon's chosen charity of the year, the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

As good as it gets....

...not sure that would really help as we would be squeezing in another match into a congested February...I'd rather have the Saturday and prepare to play the MK Farcicles on the Tuesday after their Cup match.
----
Doubt the football league would sanction any change of a full football league program on the 2nd last Saturday of the season either.
....
I can't see any other option for MK other than the date you originally mentioned - Tuesday 19th....and with MK potentially getting another replay or going into a 6th Rd....after that draw they've every chance.....I think we can discount them from the promotion race...may squeeze a play-off spot but is going to be a tall order with their size squad.

Don't worry chaps, Ferry is our secret weapon. Cast your minds back to last ore season when he was heavily involved, only to play a bit part until mid season.

Same thing happening this year. He will feature strongly from now until the end of the season, and more importantly will be fresh.

As for the football league rag, it is a scant apology which reiterates the original article.

Scandelous, but lets move on.

have to agree, it's going to be the 19th Feb, was planning to be there for the saturday game to meet up with my brother who is an old boy town player living close to their ground. Might still make the rearranged date as I frequently visit Bicester on business. At least they have a valid reason for rescheduling which cannot be sais for 3 other teams in this very poor league.
