SWINDON TOWN: Floodgates open for in-form Williams
6:00am Monday 28th January 2013 in STFC News By Sam Morshead
GOALS GALORE: Andy Williams
WITH goals arriving like London buses for Andy Williams at present, the Swindon Town striker is feeling increasingly confident in his own game.
After notching just once in 11 appearances between late September and mid-December, Williams is now on a hot streak in front of goal.
The former Yeovil striker has netted six times in his last five outings for Swindon since bagging a brace in the home thrashing of Tranmere on December 21 and that rich scoring vein has ensured that the 26-year-old is enjoying his football.
“It’s been the nice in the last few games, I’ve been finding the back of the net quite frequently and it’s also resulted in some good results for the boys which has been the most pleasing thing,” he said.
“I always said I think it must be a mental thing, where I was going to score in the second half of the season, but I’ve been working hard at my finishing and the last few weeks things have started to go in a little bit more for me than they were before.
“I was always getting chances; it’s just converting them which I’m starting to do. When you go on the pitch and you’re getting chances, now I know I can get my head down, keep going and get the next one.
“After a little bit of time of the sidelines I went a few games without a goal and Tranmere was the game which sparked it all and it was nice to get a few goals against them in an emphatic victory at home. That’s put us on the run we’re on at the moment.”
A new owner could be announced this week, potentially ending an uncertain fortnight for the Robins. However, Williams stressed that all the off-the-field speculation has not infiltrated the Town squad’s focus.
“We don’t know a great deal and we like it that way,” he said. “Not knowing for the time being is the healthiest thing to do We’re just concentrating on the football on the pitch and hopefully letting all of the other matters take care of themselves.
“We all hope for the club that there is some positive news in the future.”

"My squad players aer NOT for sale - at Any price"
Well, if Paola says he'll settle for £15m for Matt then he should be asking at least £10m for Williams.
At that rate, AB could have his money back with interest.
