Midfielder Alan Navarro finally made his return after four months out with a knee injury this evening, and is glad to be back.

"It was nice," he said.
"We were short on numbers and it gave me a chance, and it was nice to get some time and start playing football again.
"I wanted to make a good impression and didn't want to let the manager down, and the manager recognised my legs were going and took me off at the right time.
"It is a massive result for us coming oiff the back of a few draws, and these are the games we needed to win."

Striker James Collins once again came on and had an immediate impact, and he was pleased to find his form again.

"It's a massive three points because it was our game in hand on Tranmere, and the lads were superb," he said.
"It went my way tonight and I got the winner, but in the last few games I have been a little poor and I deserved to be on the bench.
"Every striker wants to play games and score goals, so you have to come on and work hard and score, which is what I did.
"Gary Roberts had a great game tonight, and he cut inside and I made a run, he slipped me in and I hit it hard and low through the goalie's legs."

JOE DUNNE
The Irishman took charge of the club he represented more than 200 times in September, and after winning at the County Ground thanks to a Michael Rose free-kick, went on a disastrous run which saw the Us lose nine straight league games.
That rot has been stopped now with two wins in a row, and Colchester are now on their way back up the League One table.
The 39-year-old started his career at Gillingham where he made more than 100 appearances, beforefirst moving to Layer Road in 1996. His time in Essex was cut short by a very brief spell at Dover, before returning north in 1999 before his career was cut short by injury in 2003.
He quickly became Colchester's under-17 and then youth team coach, and in 2007 he was appointed reserve team coach, later becoming first team coach under Paul Lambert.
Dunne was installed as caretaker manager after the Scot departed in 2009, and won one of four games, but after Aidy Boothroyd came and left he became assistant under John Ward.
After Ward’s dismissal he was once again appointed caretaker, but before he was able to play a game he was given the job full-time by chairman Robbie Cowling.

“I’m not talking about the rest of the season because we don’t know what’s going on in the next two days. We are living day to day, working day by day to get the best we can in terms of quality in training sessions, strategy to win the next game, the maximum professionalism as usual.
“If you ask me the future, I can’t tell you because we don’t have a normal situation. We don’t know what’s going on in the next four days. If it remains like today it will be a very dark future in terms of hoping for something important.
“We don’t know, but now what can we say? You know what has happened in the last few months, maybe you don’t know everything but in the last few days it is clear how I have worked in the last few months."

Magnus Okuonghae
The huge Nigerian defender is the bedrock of the United defence, and is an imposing presence whoever he is playing against. Not the most technically gifted player, but is a giant in the air and will look to muscle the Town strikeforce out whenever possible.
Freddie Sears
The former West Ham youngster is full of pace, and is a great partner for fellow striker Jobo Ibehre who will provide the strength. Sears can run the channels well, and will look to spread the play whenever possible.
Jabo Ibehre
The striker returned to Essex during January following a spell on loan earlier in the season, and has been a handful for defences up and down the country throughout his career. His spells with the Dons and Orient have not always brought the goals perhaps expected of him, but he work rate and physical presence can often give his side a platform to build on.

“Tomorrow it will be difficult because it will be another pitch where you can’t play football. This is another aspect with all the other problems, it gives you even less chance to get what you want, and we are playing against a side that in this moment are better than us.
“They have two wins in two against two draws in two. They have five goals scored and two goals conceded against one goal scored and one conceded. At this moment they are better than us.
“It’s not about fifth from the bottom and fourth from the top. At this moment we have to say that we are going to play against a side which is better than us, for a different reason and not for the individuals’ technical quality.
“I hope tomorrow we can get a draw there. They have better confidence now, they have changed the system a bit, they have changed some players and some players who have been out for a few weeks are back in the team and affecting it in a positive way.
“There is quality there. We saw in here when we lost to them. They have one or two players who have played in the Premiership and Championship.
“It will be very difficult, not because I am giving up, but if we draw it would be a fantastic job."

“It’s not about the 14, which is a pathetic situation for a club that was claiming it wanted to go up and had ambition in the past. We are not pathetic - the players and the stafrf - that is for sure. We are amazing in this period and all periods since September.
“My players have always been fantastic in terms of professionalism, character and commitment but one day the energy will finish. You can’t make miracles, you can’t handle the situation every time, every day, every minute for six months because they are humans.
“They had hope at the beginning of the season, they came here with a plan and even if there is a manager you doesn’t let them go blurry it’s not easy. It’s not easy to keep it going. I hope they are going to give what we saw in the second half at Crawley.
“The character is not enough if you’re not fully concentrated."

“On Saturday we travelled with 17 players. One or two are not really completely ready for the game - Jay for example was the first game and he had difficulty with the game but this is natural," he said.
"We saw it with Tommy Miller when he came back from his injury.
“Tomorrow it will be even worse. We will travel with 14. A team five points from the top will be travelling with 14 tomorrow. We know when it happened to another club, at the County Ground - Portsmouth. You know how they were in big problems.
“Now a club who is close to the top on Saturday travelled with 17, with a kid not really fit and four players with a virus.
“Now we are going to travel with 14, with some problems with a player who will go on the bench. That is our situation and we know who we have to thank.
“I hope we have 14 because there is a possibility that there will be 13. We have some little problems but I can’t have many options so I have to hope my players are ready to play even with some problems.

Hard to believe the club is SKINT yet Pdc has spent on his Team and I think gone over the top with spending,what´s done is done.
Now we have had the saga will he go or stay.
He is the only one who can answer that one.
All I hope is the FL do give approval for the takeover it seems a long time coming.

I don't necessarily agree with your comment that all seems to have gone downhill since JW left. I think our results in the league have been P14 W8 D4 L2 F30 A5.

totally agree with you on the field the Town have done a lot better than most of us thought they would.
It´s just the off field problems JW sacked.SWP the hatchet man came in,embargo etc was a worrying time as it is now.

It may be tactical but there's a touch of the drama queens about this to me.
I am also bemused as to why we put in offers for the 3 players we wanted on loan. Who confirmed the money to pay their wages would be available? Why wasn't it made clear by Watkins what the process is regarding signings during a take over? He's the Chief Exec. Did he know what PdC and Spencer were doing? Did PdC and Spencer disregard his advice? Did Watkins know the rules?!!

The problem with things taking time is that we tend to over analyse every statement, mood, wave or misplaced word.

We know no more than we did on fri/sat - which is positive (he hasnt walked yet). Paolo is a man of honour and clearly hasnt made his mind up until this deal is ratified - which from his perspective is the right stance.
If this situation is getting you stressed (as it is me), consider this.
At 5pm on Saturday we could know the following;
1) The deal is done, Pdc has spoken to the new consortium and is content. He is staying.
2) The new consortium are 'loaded' and has aspirations for Premiership football.
3) We are top of the league.
No - I am not on drugs... this scenario is equally as likely as any others.

We had an owner in Andrew Black who was, once upon a time, prepared to fund annual operating losses of around £1.2 million.
Question is, are the new owners happy to indulge themselves to the tune of meeting a £100,000 loss every month? If they have the money.
If they are, then good on 'em. If they aren't, then they will have to save on the wage bill. Which means either selling players, or getting rid of PDC and his team. Can't believe they would just 'sack' Paolo as has been suggested, because of the required pay-off.
But something that would **** him off, like saying they didn't want to sell Ritchie and then doing it, or promising loan players in the knowledge that the Football League couldn't sanction them, might be enough to make Paolo walk without it deemed constructive dismissal. Wouldn't be smart from a fans' reaction perspective though - makes you wonder why they even want in?
All conjecture of course.

My thoughts, for what they are worth, is that Paolo is waiting for the outcome of the FL approval and the intentions of the new owners. He has been full of his praise for his players and the fans in the last few days and they are the people that have so far kept him at the County Ground.
I would hope as a minimum that the new owners come in and say you have our full backing until the end of the season. i.e. we will fund the current squad, the 3 new loan players you have targetted and possibly ANOther. Then at the end of the season we review the situation and take it from there.
We do not know who they are, how much money they are prepared to invest etc. We may have, as Town fans, to perhaps be less demanding in the future. We love success but sometimes it comes at a price we cannot afford and that is not something we want.
If this takeover is successful, and if it is I believe it will save the club, we may have to lower our sights a little in the future and wait. More importantly though, we will still have a club to support.
Positives for the board:
Great position in the league, great manager, great fans and possibly the best squad of players ever at the CG.

SAP, I did not make a big deal of anything. I merely pointed out, politely and without any hint of confrontation, that the Football League has nothing to do with England internationals. You then decided, as you tend to do, to plough on and try to justify your "tongue in cheek" comment. If you are going to take a swipe at someone - even if it is intended to be good humoured - the least you can do is make sure that it's relevant - or, if you have made a mistake, accept with good grace that it's not.

Nearly everyone on here disagrees with one another from time to time. That's great stuff - the heartbeat of this forum. Most people make their points stoutly, and we all like to try to persuade others round to our point of view. Sometimes we win the argument, sometimes we lose it. You, on the other hand, have a history of bypassing the debate and responding with instant venom to anyone who dares to say something that's not in line with your own views. Just in case you doubt that is so, I would add that I am absolutely certain that I could quote examples, although I have no wish to do so. It is, of course, entirely up to you how you conduct yourself on here but I, for one, would be grateful if you would think about it. Many posters will not have a clue what I am talking about. I think you will recognise it.

I can also provide 1000s of examples where I've engaged in debate and an exchange of opinions - I only have an issue with those posters who dislike others who have a 'Different Opinion' or who deign to question certain people.

Alas, another of your trademarks looms large in this latest post. It may pop up in different forms of words but the message is always the same, i.e. "Go away.
