Tranmere win would send message to rivals - Williams
6:00am Tuesday 19th February 2013 in STFC News By Sam Morshead
Town's Andy Williams
ANDY Williams has urged Swindon Town to “lay down a marker” to the rest of League One with victory at Tranmere tomorrow.
The Robins currently lie one point behind their Wirral hosts in the table and a win would propel Williams & Co back into the middle of the automatic promotion race.
Tranmere have won three of their last five games at Prenton Park and Williams reckons the rest of the division would sit up and notice if Swindon can take all three points from their trip to the north west.
“Everyone at the club has just got to remain positive now. We’ve got to stay focused and we know we are capable of getting to where we want to be. We’ve got to keep the unbeaten run going, and if we can beat Tranmere and set a marker down on Tuesday I think a few people will take note,” he said.
“A draw wouldn’t be the end of the world, it would keep the run going and I can’t se a draw taking us too far outside where we want to be. It puts a bit more pressure on Tranmere as well because being at home you’d have then down as favourites.
“It’ll be a good game, a big game and one I think we’re all looking forward to.
“It’s the next game and for us at the moment the next game is the biggest game. We were all a little disappointed with the result against Hartlepool but we know a result on Tuesday will put us where we want to be.
“It’s a massive game. I think a result either way would be a decent outcome but a win would obviously be the best we could hope for.
“Then we’ve got a lot of games coming up against teams who are up there so our destiny is in our own hands.
“At this stage of the season a team might get away from the rest, I can’t see two teams getting away so I think it’s going to remain pretty tight for the last automatic and maybe one play-off place.”

If the column was published this morning at 6AM why does Williams want a win tomorrow at Tranny.
However with what we face at the club currently this is the least of our worries
