10:33pm

That's it from us at Griffin Park, on a disappointing night for Swindon Town as they missed the chance to return to the automatic promotion places.

No game on Saturday of course, but join us for the trip to Yeovil a week today.

Night all.

10:32pm

Swindon manager Kevin MacDonald has spoken to the media after tonight's lost, and insisted his side were the dominant side for much of the game.

MAKING MOVES: Kevin MacDonald

KEVIN MACDONALD

“I thought we were the better side in the first half, and we’re disappointed because we thought we probably should have won the game, but they got a couple of breakaways and scored," he said.

“Even when we were 2-1 down we were the team that were in the ascendancy.

“We got untidy and sloppy, and that’s disappointing because we spoke about not getting hit on the break.

“We stopped passing for a period of 10 or 15 minutes and we gave them a chance to get balls up into the box and to their strikers, but that’s the nature of the way they play.

“It got scrappy and we never took responsibility to get the ball under control and pass it, but you expect the home team to have the momentum away from home.

“The talk in the dressing room is that he (Foderingham) got his hand on the ball and left his feet in there to go down, but it would have been a harsh sending off for a keeper anyway, because what is he meant to do, just stand there and let the boy score?”

9:45pm

A real tough night for Town here, which was going so well until the penalty was given away. Foderingham definitely made contact for me, but had already played the ball a long way out of his control. From there the home side grew in confidence, and there was only ever going to be one winner.

Town down to fourth after this evening's results, which will be on the way in a moment.

9:39pm

FULL-TIME: Brentford 2 Swindon Town 1

9:39pm

That's it, all over.

9:39pm

Brentford working the ball in the corner.

9:37pm

YELLOW CARD Wright-Phillips booked for time wasting.

9:36pm

93 minutes: Town fire a free-kick into the box and after it bobbles around in the box James Collins heads tamely at goal.

9:34pm

90 minutes: A real let-off for Flint. The defender tries to head it back to his keeper but it was never on, and Donaldson intercepts his backpass, only for Foderingham to bail out his defender with a good save. Five minutes added.

9:34pm

SUBSTITUTION: Andy Williams replaced by Raffa De Vita.

9:32pm

YELLOW CARD: Nathan Thompson booked for upending Diagouraga.

9:31pm

Town struggling to regain their composure here after being hit by those two quick goals, and can't really create anything in attack. Brentford have been far superior in the last half an hour.

9:30pm

SUBSTITUTIONS
James Collins replaces Tommy Miller for Town
Toumani Diagouraga replaces Tom Adeyemi for Brentford

9:28pm

82 minutes: Donaldson breaks for Town and crosses for Wright-Phillips, but Foderingham makes a superb save with his legs to keep Town in it.

9:25pm

SUBSTITUTION: Luke Rooney replaces Gary Roberts.

9:23pm

76 minutes: GOAL 2-1 BRENTFORD (Donaldson) Brentford enjoy a prolonged spell of pressure, and it eventually pays off as Donaldson latches onto a knockdown and fires past Foderingham.

9:20pm

74 minutes: Adeyemi is brought down by Miller, and Saunders rattles the bar with the free-kick with the flying Foderingham beaten.

9:19pm

73 minutes: Town look to respond straight away, and Rooney outmuscles his man down the right and fires in a cross which Logan deflects back to his keeper.

9:18pm

72 minutes: GOAL 1-1 (Saunders) Saunders fires the ball home straight down the middle.

9:17pm

71 minutes: PENALTY BRENTFORD Donaldson clatters into Foderingham after knocking the ball past him, and the keeper is booked.

9:14pm

67 minutes: Saunders sends in a corner but it’s cleared by the head of McEveley.

9:13pm

HALF-TIME: Brentford 0 Swindon Town 1

8:34pm

45+1 minutes: Williams scampers round the keeper but is forced very wide, and his shot is on target but cleared off the line. No time for the corner as the referee blows for half-time.

40 minutes: Forshaw's shot deflects off Miller and rolls into Foderingham's hands

8:29pm

39 minutes: Flint wins the ball well from a long free-kick fired into the box, but it trickles wide.

8:28pm

Town looking good so far with their 4-5-1 allowing them to consistently win the ball in midfield and look to work the ball wide. Lots of joy down the left.

8:23pm

33 minutes: Roberts should make it 2-0 to Town as he is given possession via a great pass from Williams, but the winger fires viciously against the post.

8:23pm

32 minutes: GOAL 1-0 TOWN (Ferry) Roberts drops deep and holds off his man well to feed Ferry, and the midfielder cuts back and fires in a shot into the bottom corner. Great finish from the Scot.

8:21pm

31 minutes: Adam Rooney wins the ball off Tony Craig and chips in a nice ball for Andy Williams, but the striker can’t quite control.

8:20pm

30 minutes: Ferry wins Town a corner, and a deflection quickly wins another, but Roberts’ delivery is poor.

8:18pm

27 minutes: Donaldson wins a corner off Flint, and then Stuart Dallas wins another off McEveley. The second corner is poor and is cleared.

8:16pm

25 minutes: Town break at pace and work the ball wide for Roberts, who zips in a teasing cross which Moore has to gather well.

8:15pm

25 minutes: Foderingham gets away with one as his low clearance is charged down by Donaldson, but fortunately for Town the ball fires out for a throw.

8:13pm

23 minutes: Rooney wins a corner off Jonathan Douglas, but Brentford are able to hoof clear. McEveley lobs it back in but it goes straight out of play.

8:11pm

20 minutes: Brentford have the first real chance of the game as Clayton Donaldson beats Darren Ward to a bouncing ball, but as he charges through on goal he can only poke wide with Foderingham rushing out to meet him on the penalty spot. Should have scored.

8:07pm

Williams perhaps a little isolated in his lone striker role, with McCormack offering him the most support.

8:05pm

Town looking lively so far this evening, and when they don't have the ball, are eager to close down their opponents.

8:01pm

11 minutes: Williams wins a corner, which Flint meets with his head and forces a clearance off the line.

8:00pm

10 minutes: Town are working the ball around really well, particularly down the left, where McEveley and Roberts get in a series of crosses which have to be cleared.

7:56pm

Six minutes: Jay McEveley shoots from distance but it’s straight at Moore.

7:52pm

Town beginning this one in a 4-5-1, with Rooney wide right, Williams through the middle and Ferry tucked in inside Miller and McCormack.

7:51pm

One minute: Adam Rooney earns an early corner, but Gary Roberts’s delivery as poor and earns another. The second is better, and after Andy Williams and Tommy Miller have efforts blocked, Aden Flint’s cross is straight at Simon Moore in the Brentford goal.

IN THE HOME DUGOUT

Demanding more: Uwe Rosler is wants his players to step up to the plate when they go on the road SP73020
Like former Town boss Paolo Di Canio, Uwe Rosler has chosen to start his managerial career in the UK in the lower leagues.

The German is best known in English football for his time with Manchester City, where he managed a goal every three games for the Maine Road side in the days before their Middle Eastern money took hold.

From there he returned to his homeland before stints at Southampton and West Bromwich Albion, but opted to end his career on Norway with Lillestrom, with his time as a player coming to a premature end after he battled lung cancer.

But after beating the illness, It was in Lillestrom he began his managerial career, and he led the side to two successive fourth place finishes in the league, as well as losing in the finals of both the Norwegian Cup and the Royal League.

Frustrated: Uwe Rosler can't hide his anger during Saturday's FA Cup exit
All that was not enough for him to save his job, and a brief stint at Viking followed before a move to Molde, but despite not losing a game, he was replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

After moving to Brentford he guided the club to ninth in his first season, their best finish in six years, and they currently occupy sixth position this time around.

7:34pm

General manager Steve Murrall can't be in attendance as he works on lifting the embargo but he's sent his best wishes to all involved with Swindon Town at Brentford tonight.

He said: "Haven't made game as working on all behind-the-scenes mundane stuff. Wish I could be in the crowd. Looking forward to 3 points."

DANGER MEN

Ruthless: Clayton Donaldson celebrates his second goal against Crawley Town

Clayton Donaldson
The striker has scored goals wherever he has been since his move from Hull to York in 2005, and the same is true of his time with the Bees. The striker is quick and strong and can force his way past defenders with ease if given the time and space, and will need to be watched.

New STFC signing Jonathan Douglas

Jonathan Douglas
The Irish midfielder needs no introduction to Town fans following his two years in Wiltshire between 2009 and 2011, where he was part of the Swindon side which made the League One play-off final before suffering relegation the following season. If given time and space he can control the midfield, and his former teammate Simon Ferry will be doing his best not to allow him to do that.

Offers: Toumani Diagouraga will consider his options in the summer.
Toumani Diagouraga
The French-born Malian has been impressive since moving to Griffin Park from Peterborough, and has become a mainstay of the midfield alongside Douglas. He likes to control possession and create chances for his teammates, and if he does that, he can be a real threat. Named on the bench tonight, but can change a game if brought on.

Bradley Wright-Phillips

Bradley Wright-Phillips
The striker came close to a move to Town at the end of the January transfer window, but his move fell through with Swindon unable to register any new players. Since moving to Griffin Park he has made a few decent performances, and although he is on the bench tonight, his power and pace will be a handful for the Town defence if he gets on.

Good start: On-loan Fulham striker Marcello Trotta enjoyed an impressive debut against Sheffield United on Saturday

Marcello Trotta
Trotta is currently on loan from Fulham, and has quite some pedigree having spent time with Napoli and Manchester City as a kid. He can play as a striker or can sit back and support Donaldson, and is also capable of finding the net from long-range.

FUN FACTS
Former BBC Director General Greg Dyke is a massive Brentford fan and, after playing a major role in saving the club from liquidation six years ago, now serves as chairman.

Greg Dyke

GREG DYKE
In the late 1990s, chairman Ron Noades made himself manager of the Bees, and he didn’t do too badly either. Noades led the west London outfit to promotion as champions of Division Three in 1999.

Brentford became the first team to win the fourt-tier title under all its guises (Fourth Division, Division Three and League Two) when they were crowned champions in May, 2009.

Brentford’s home ground, Griffin Park, is a particular favourite amongst drinkers as there is a pub on each of the four corners of the stadium. They are the Royal Oak, the New Inn, The Griffin and The Princess Royal, which is owned by the club.

The Griffin was used as the set for a scene in British football-yob thriller Green Street.

7:12pm

Around 1,500 Swindon fans are expected to be in attendance tonight. Another fine travelling effort from the Town supporters.

7:02pm

ADVER CHIEF SPORTS WRITER SAM MORSHEAD: "There's no Harry Forrester for Brentford this evening, which is a massive boost for Town.

"The skillful midfield offers a massive threat wide on the left and through the middle and his absence will be a major blow for the Bees.

Pulling the strings: Harry Forrester was at the centre of some good Brentford football at the weekend

MISSING: HARRY FORRESTER

"Bradley Wright-Phillips only makes the bench against the team for whom he almost signed six weeks ago while Jonathan Douglas lines up in a tasty-looking midfield battle against his old team.

"Up front for Brentford, Marcello Trotta and Clayton Donaldson offer a substantial attacking threat. Town will have to be on their guard. This could be a cracker."

Once again you can't make a reasonable comment on here without avo accusing people of 'moaning'! Not moaning at all avo. Some of us see it as it is. Doesn't mean we like it. Just facing facts. Doesn't mean we don't appreciate what the squad have achieved in very difficult circumstances either. They are fantastic. The spirit that Paolo created has carried them through.

You just look through the red tinted glasses avo and pretend everything is rosy. Some of us are getting fed up with the promises of 'tomorrows'.

From Flinty's comments it looks like the boys are up for it tonight! We always rise to the occasion when our backs are against the wall especially when we're away from home. The ref made some very dubious decisions on Saturday, esp. the penalty which looked inocuous to me, also didn't penalise Walsall at all for pushing our blokes in the back all the time!! Hope we get a fairer ref tonight! COYR!1

Just looked to see the impact of the Crewe v Sheff Utd and Doncaster v Carlisle on their fixture lists.
...
Crewe are in up to their necks in it now as they have 2 games a week right up until the end of the season and it squeezes Sheff Utd into a midweek fixture in that last week of the season as well.
...
Doncaster have a lot more space in their fixture list but it does delay a home fixture and IF we get three points tonight it puts just that little bit more pressure on them.
---
The weather has given us a chance to go second tonight - we MUST!! take it if we want to be in the auto-promotion race come mid-April.

Some of us are getting fed up with the promises of 'tomorrows'. .
Whilst some of us are getting fed up with you continually talking of tomorrow. Isn't the once enough to get your point across? Most of us can remember what we ate yesterday afterall!!.

You really are a thick 2013.

Firstly, if you ask a question you should always finish it with a question mark otherwise it can read as though it is a statement of fact.

If you are not sure what I am talking about, it is the squiggly thing with the dot underneath. some examples are as follows ??????.

Now secondly, its a little bit rich that you question the intelligence of somebody from Swindon when you are considered educated in Bournemouth if you know who your Father is.

I guess we'll be watching you soon on Jeremy Kyle

Ur a crap team with scummy set if fans and the spelling is because of my ipad u clowns can't wait for u to s**t of of play offs hahaha

Eddie howe's Barmy army
Wow!..what an awful bit of grammar - can't spell, can't punctuate, is this a yellow belly posing as a Boournemouth fan?...even 99.9% of B'muff have more sense than this.
...
'....set if fans....' !? eh!?
.
because of my iPad....!?...what does it interpret your voice as you've got your arms in a straight jacket or something - surely you can find the backspace key?
.
s**t of of play offs ha ha....hmm...nope not a clue what that was supposed to mean.
.
Have to say you've brightened my evening as I know my 8yr old can spell better than you - in fact my 5yr old's reading skills probably outweigh your potential.

Can't stop smiling at your blind stupity and eagerness to continually underline your stupidity...keep it up matey!! :-)
How's the spelling on this

Swinscum town fc You inbred gypsy
Nope you still haven;t got the hang of it - and just to note that Swindon is not re-known for a Gypsy community as we all have houses that were built for a hard working railway industry.
...
Still - Bless you ....must be a lonely life and oh...hang on 1-0 to STFC Yey!
..
Still don't believe you're B'muff but funny winding up the wind-up merchant in any event! :-)
.
Am guessing you're about 13yrs old and sat alone in your cell/bedroom.
Why aren't you at brentford away ?
Just sums up ur support actually is crap

Ur Probably bashing ur bishop
Nope not religious and even if I was I wouldn't beat up the clergy.
...
This will be a difficult concept for you but I have to work - yep it is a strange word for you isn't it....one day you'll be old enough or you'll be released and have to get a job....sadly I'm not an F1 driver with a private jet so would struggle to get to Brentford in 75mins from where I am...but nice try....I'm sure you're Poxford you know!!...all the B'muff fans I know can spell and are allowed out on the streets.
...
As mentioned above Swindon is known for being a hard-working town and we are working or proudly retired.
...
Nice to see you getting rattled now :-)

Why aren't you at Stevenage?...not exactly that far for you either eh!?.. oops you're not allowed to drive yet are you!?

Best team in the league, your are having a laugh. Put the glue away it is obviously having an effect on your brain. I have just looked at the league table and see there are 6 teams above you! So if my maths are right that makes you the 7th best team in the league.

sorry to say it but its back to the wilson era of playing, exactly the same as the position we had last time we were chasing auto promotion from league 1, big games with the chance to put major pressure on top teams and we f*uck them up too many chances not taken points dropped and now we have a shaky defence leaking goals all over the place again, where is the tightest defence in the league gone??? no confidence in a clean sheat again, sub should of been made when he could see brentfords major possession just to break the play up. said i would give macdonald a chance but after last few results is not good enough, the tightest defence in the league in the last few games we have conceded every game cannot keep a clean sheat and too many missed chances we have to have 10 chances to score 1 goal the opposition 2 chances to every 1 goal they get against us

I cannot believe you are surprised by this defeat!.

PDC realised we needed three new players, and Mac is hoping to get some in soon. They are very tired due to the injury situation in the squad.

I think I'm in the camp of that we will be missing out on the playoffs.

Looking out our recent form. 3 wins in the last 10 is not good enough!
I think we haven't won at home since 19th Jan and have conceded at least a goal 7 games in a row.

If we get a point at Yeovil and then win our next two home games before the big one at Donny then playoffs could a possibility again but on this evidence...nope!

I'll probably feel a bit more optimistic tomorrow after giving my Brentford manager his winnings on the bet we had.... I was allowed the draw too!

Lol Spider no although I'd probably side more with 1950 than Avo who is always "light-heartedly" making jokey comments to use his words but soon has a go when I for example "light-heartedly" knock Wilma & Joan cue :) to demonstrate.

On to the game - cant comment not there but two texts from two that were.. In total control 1st half it seems - Willo apparently had no chance of scoring from an acute angle(ok Wilma you're let off that one) but Roberts should have buried his post effort I'm told.
My conclusion - no strength in depth and no strikers with real pace Donaldson is just the type of guy we need - can shrug off challenges can shoot and has pace.
Worryingly KM "can't fathom out what's wrong" and his post match interviews to date are hardly inspirational. Jed tweets that embargo should be lifted this week sometime! Is it me or does there seem to be a lack of urgency to address these issues?
Contrition and honesty from Wes re the pen " i let the lads down" but
Hey Wes you made a great save and you didn't let the lads down anymore than anyone else - sounds like Flinty had a mare second half. Still in with a shout but boy we aren't helping ourselves letting a team who weren't in it for over an hour take all 3 points.

I think we need to look at the bigger picture. Last season we were a league 2 side and now we are currently fourth in the table a couple of points off automatic promotion. It has really hurt that we've dropped points and not made the most of other teams dropping points, but that just goes to show how tight the league is this season. Other teams have been dropping points and they haven't been through the chaos we have in the last few months- yet were still there in with a shout. We do need loan signings, but give the new board a chance to tidy the loose ends from the quick sale of the club. Lets give KMac the benefit of the doubt, it takes time to transition a team to your way of thinking - remember PDCs first 7/8 games in charge weren't that great and we ended up winning the league. I think it's just going to take a little bit of time to get some stability back into the club

All too easy to pick on the manager at this stage as I get the feeling the players have much to answer for and look like the effort is just not there. Are players too comfortable in that they feel their places are safe or are we actually good enough. Not the right time to knock the manager lets just see what his reaction is and that's IF we get this embargo lifted to see if he can do anything to bring players in. If the players continue to perform at half rate then yes it could be a management issue and we will have to see if he will put up with it or does not have the skills yet to motivate the players. I get the feeling some players may be back on the pop! Hic. but we need more competition for places which we do not have.

Hi to all STFC fans from Australia. Felt so good when I woke up this morning to a 1-0 half time score. As it happens I dont blame PDC or the players or KM for this defeat. Looks like we had great away support again for this one. The blame is fairly and squarely with Sam Moreshead! To explain: He has jinxed us by commenting twice when we were 1-0 up that " we haven't lost away since Nov 24th" and "at this point we are lying second in Div 1" Oh dear Sam what a clanger! However time to regroup and get on with the job. Still plenty of chances to get promotion either through the automatic spots or even the dreaded play-offs. Hopefully the fans will stay loyal, loud and turn up in droves for all of the remaining games. No moaning and whingeing just fantastic positive support needed. It will make a difference. You are all so lucky to be there at this exciting time. COYR

Just seen the goals, nice one from Simon. But their first Mceverley lost his man and IMO was to blame for not clearing it, Wes was given no alternative but to go for it, penalty agreed, but it shouldn't have got that far. Second one down to Flint not heading clear. This does not look like a defence that doesn't conceed goals, it must have been so disappointing for the travelling fans to see the team capitulate in the last 20 minutes, could it be that there are some shrinking violets in the team that have no bottle and don't have the composure to battle to the end when faced with going behind.

I think MacDonald has a lot of work to do to sort this lot out, not impressed so far with what I saw of his tactics on Saturday, but far too soon to judge him after 3 games, especially as he is yet to bring in new faces. As others have said it's looking like deja-vu, just hope they don't turn out like the Wilson f*ck ups who blew it the last time we were going for promotion.

He has 9 games to turn this round, so let's see what he's about and hope he knows what he's doing and that goes for Jed & Co, who also seem something of an enigma. if we don't at least make the play-offs I can see a backlash with season ticket sales which will be a vote of no confidence in the board and the manager.Time will tell, but those players out of contract had better start performing if they want a new contract.

What was said at half time?. We came out with no purpose or plan, just sat back and let them build pressure... gutted about the defeat and have a very bad feeling about Yeovil. It seems maybe the board have decided they cant finance a promotion push? having already appointed a manager on the cheap. Would like to see some actual intent by signing some loans... but with the endless embargo its not looking good.

We lost a battle tonight and that hurts. What hurts so much more though is that we are losing the war.
Just a few short weeks ago we were the form team in Europe with promotion within our grasp and led by a manager with a passion and belief the like of which we will never see again. Since his departure, which was, I believe, manipulated by the board, we have a tepid, uninspiring management led by a board who are the epitome of complacency and near indifference.
The team have worked so hard this season to get to the position they are. Meanwhile, McDonald talks limply about bringing on youth and finding out what the team can do as if this were mere pre-season.
Losing PDC ( whatever the reasons) has been a tragedy for this club. I cannot escape the conclusion that this board do not want promotion (for financial reasons) and have come in with their own questionable agenda (pop concerts, redevelopment...). Why the heck haven't they moved heaven and earth to end the embargo and get new faces in? PDC had identified the need for new players weeks ago!
I have supported town since 1968, but for the first time in 45 years, I almost wish I didn't care anymore. What's the point when the owners clearly don't?

Just got back from the Brentford match. Very lack lustre. Should have buried a very, very ordinary Brentford side 3-0 at half time. Second half we decided to continue to play long ball to a lone striker. 4-5-1. Had we played 4-3-3 we would have walloped them, no doubt, they were petrified of our football first half. I am not an FA Coach, but why didn't MacDonald see the need to change the formation and personnel at 50, 60, or 70 minutes? He had no spark, no intuition, I looked over several times and he stood motionless in stark contrast to PDC, who reacts to what he sees in front of him (albeit often emotionally!) Very well MacDonald saying as he did in press statement that "we dominated", but he should have intervened and changed things- this is what managers do! Their manager obviously got stuck into them at half time and told his average team to attack Swindon and their formation and it worked. No spark, no intervention. On last five games home and away which I have watched live, we would do well to make the playoffs.

O and by the way, Aden Flint was pathetic tonight as in many games lately. His distribution was awful- he couldn't pass water. Not got the ability for this level. Drop him now.

Thanks avo. I am afraid that comments like that only put you in the same league as Dean Court, or whaterver the C. U. N.ext T.uesday calls himself today. There is no need to get person and make stupid comments like that. I don't think I have ever 'dissed' you or anyone else and am entitled to my opinions, even if you don't share them. COYR I have always said and for a lot longer than you I think I can proudly say - which is probably why I get a little touchy when I can see yet another season on the verge of being thrown away. I will be more happy than anyone if we get a result tonight. COYR!
I am afraid, that you have no sense of humour old boy.

Been a fan longer than me? Grow up. You have the cheek to call me a see you next tuesday, for what was a tongue in cheek remark meant to make you smile, then in the next breath throw the boring comment of you've been a fan longer than me la la, dear oh dear.
.
Read all my posts again, and really there was never anything more than a little light hearted winding up going on, but I have to admit to finding your posts negative and boring, most of the time, sorry.
.
Looking good tonight so far though eh? Let's hope we can go on to win, and see what tomorrow brings lol.
Are you two the Wizard and Jockster in disguise?
Lol Spider no although I'd probably side more with 1950 than Avo who is always "light-heartedl
y" making jokey comments to use his words but soon has a go when I for example "light-heartedly" knock Wilma & Joan cue :) to demonstrate.

Jock I was there and you have summed it up to a T.

Donaldson man of the match by a mile and we couldn't cope with his pace and strength. Again. An excellent player at this level and just the type of player we could do with. Douglas also didn't put a pass astray all night.

I do think we would have won the game if Roberts had scored his gilt edged chance when he had them on the ropes, but second half it was all Brentford and we ran out of steam.

With no disrespect to our subs bench, we had no real quality to bring on and each substitution added nothing really other than fresh legs.

The 4-5-1 formation worked well first half, slick passing, but we were never going to kep that pace up.

Desparately need the 3 new players, however we have needed them for 5 weeks and counting. If they are not here by the next game it will be a very obvious statement of lack of ambition of the new board to gain promotion this season.

Just waiting now for the inevitable statement to say 'we will be out of'embargo next week' to be made....

It's hard to see how a side can be so dominant in the first half and degenerate into such a shambles in the second. The players seemed to get nervous and opt for a mixture of committing silly fouls and standing off. Brentford's second goal was a result of giving Douglas all the time he wanted on the ball.

Very poor miss by Roberts. If he'd scored to make it 2-0 maybe it would have been a different story. But he didn't. Can't knock Williams for his attempt just on half time. He was forced very wide. He'd have needed to hit it with a lot more power to have a chance of scoring - but it would have been much harder to get it on target. And he ran his guts out in the loan striker role.

I'm not going to blame MacDonald either. His set-up was not pretty but he has been dealt an understrength hand and so far has been unable to change the cards, so all he can do is shuffle the pack. Anyway his formation saw us in at half time a goal up and in complete control. The players couldn't see the job through. To use Joey's simple but true explanation, we just weren't good enough. Dominating most of the proceedings is worth nowt if you lose composure and discipline and throw it all away.

Best Post tonight! Let's keep things in perspective guys.

Back from the game and not feeling positive. More defensive mistakes costing points. Not like us, but they are creeping in more and more.

I know the squad is threadbare in places but am not happy with the tactics and some selections. Macca is not technically good enough to play centre midfield and with him and Miller there, it's not a strong pairing.

Ferry needs to be put back into CM. Starting right he inevitably drifts inside and Thompson was on more than one occasion left facing two attackers.

The only two defenders I am sure about are Ward and Thompson. Maybe Macca needs to move back to CB, or take McEveley's place.

As to playing Rooney effectively in midfield, I just don't get it. Not sure De Vita would have done much better but he couldn't have done much worse. We need midfield players on loan as a priority - how we miss Hollands.

Poor quality of away pitches.

Amazing goalkeepers on the other teams.

Playing against teams with new Managers.

Bad weather.

Terrible referees.

Not enough players in Swindon squad, mainly claimed by PDC.

Forwards who cannot score goals, mainly said by me to be fair.

Shocking home form.

The transfer embargo.

The catering at the County Ground.

Is it not perhaps possible that we are quite simply, just not good enough??
You could have a point Joey
True - JB - also this league has not really had any runaway teams at the top to draw a comparison to. Possibly Tranmere initially, but the rest, like us have flattered to deceive.

Can't disagree with a word of that either its almost as if Jed and co are frightened about the consequences of getting championship football and KM despite his statement about still targeting auto prom is hardly coming across as bullish in his post match interviews.

Why is KM changing the team around and playing people out of position Ferry for christ sake needs to play in the middle and Macca either plays full back you cant play him and miller in the middle of the park they are not creative as a a pair whereas Ferry is. We aare going to blow our best chance of promotion from this league and at the moment KM i am not impressed with your tactics as to me you are showing to be totally inept.
Yes its only 3 games but 5 points thrown away in two games.
