10:41pm

That's it from us folks. A fantastic result at Huish Park. Next stop the County Ground on Saturday for the visit of Notts County.

See you there.

10:35pm

Defender Nathan Thompson picked up the man of the match award from Sky Sports this evening, and was pleased with his performance.

Nathan Thompson

NATHAN THOMPSON

“We are all buzzing because the last couple of games have been a little disappointing, and when we went into the dressing room at the end everyone was a bit down.

“Tonight was a huge performance and we are all upbeat, and when you travel back after a big win there is a good atmosphere.

“I was pleased with my performance, even though I was a little sloppy with a few things in the first half, but in the second I was much better and I was pleased to get man of the match.”

10:21pm

Swindon manager Kevin MacDonald has spoken to the media after tonight's victory.

Town boss Kevin MacDonald

KEVIN MACDONALD

I’m delighted for the players, and also for the fans who travelled down here because they were tremendous, and you can see the passion there is between the players and the fans.

“I think we can play better, and we have played better and lost in the last four games, but sometimes to win ugly is important for the team.

“They probably had more possession of the ball but we had more chances, and the more clear-cut chances, and we got a little bit untidy and nervy in the second half.

“When we scored the first goal we started to keep possession better, and I always thought we would have a chance to score a second, and luckily for us it happens.

10:20pm

Simon Ferry has a tight hamstring following tonight's win. Will be looked at tomorrow.

9:49pm

Reaction to follow, although it remains to be seen if the internet connection will stretch as far as the other side of the pitch.

9:47pm

That win puts Town up to third in the table, three points behind leaders Doncaster.

9:46pm

9:45pm

What a finish, and a great win for Town who completely dominated that second half.

9:26pm

9:24pm

9:10pm

The 3-2 and 2-2 charity bets are looking good at the moment....

The pitch isn't looking so good now following the warm-up, with plenty of divots coming up.

7:29pm

For those who haven't seen much of youth teamers Ferguson and Waldon, they certainly have a decent chance of making a career for themselves. Both impressed in the club's run in the FA Youth Cup earlier in the season, particularly Ferguson who is incredibly comfortable on the ball. He can pick a pass, shoot from range, and get on the end of things in both boxes.

Waldon is a forward who has a good positional sense, and can score goals both with his feet and with his head.

Both are of course untried, but certainly have the raw talent.

IN THE HOME DUGOUT

Gary Johnson

Gary Johnson is a man who has been there and done it, and has got the Glovers firing again after returning to the club after seven years away.

After a brief playing career which saw him play for Watford, Cambridge and also in the Swedish Second Division, Johnson went into management with non-league Newmarket Town before becoming Cambridge’s reserve boss in 1988. From there he became assistant in 1990, where he and John Beck masterminded the Us’ remarkable rise. He eventually took the top job in 1993, but moved to Kettering in 1995 after the Abbey Stadium side were forced to sell a number of players.

Gary Johnson

Despite leading Kettering to full-time football for the first time in their history, Johnson returned to Watford as youth director under Graham Taylor, and from there enjoyed an unlikely spell as manager of Latvia. Despite being instrumental in Marian Pahars’ move to Southampton, Johnson was fired after a humiliating 1-1 draw at home to Liechtenstein.

His international disappointment soon led to his first spell with Yeovil, and in his first season he led the Glovers to FA Trophy glory with victory over Stevenage at Villa Park. The very next season brought the even bigger prize of promotion to the Football League.
They were immediately contenders in Division Three, and after missing out on the play-offs on goal difference they improved to win the league at the second attempt.

After a solid time in Division Two, Johnson moved to Bristol City after turning down Derby, and he took the Robins from 22nd in the table to play-off contenders immediately.

They were promoted to the Championship in 2007, and became top six contenders the following season and lost out in the play-off final to Hull City.

Despite signing a contract through to 2013, Johnson moved to Peterborough in 2010, but things did not go well and he left the club the following year after failing to agree a long-term plan with Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony.

Johnson then found himself at Northampton and saved the club from relegation from the Football League, before moving back to Yeovil and doing the same for the Huish Park side.
The Glovers started this season superbly and found themselves at the top of the table, and although a poor run followed, they have begun firing again now and are in the fight for promotion.

7:16pm

Chairman Jed McCrory, who is not at Huish Park as he continues to work on lifting the embargo hanging over Swindon Town, has said on Twitter that it will "100 per cent" be lifted by the end of the transfer window.

The chance to sign players on emergency loan deals expires on Thursday, March 28.

7:12pm

DANGER MEN

Paddy Madden
Has been the star of the Glovers’ recent run to the play-off places, having scored in all-but three of his side’s games in 2013. The striker now has 20 for the season and is enjoying the most prolific spell of his career, meaning he will be the home side’s biggest threat.

Ed Upson
The midfielder is improving every week as he gets more and more football in him, having burst onto the scene as a 15-year-old when he scored the winner for Ipswich in the FA Youth Cup final. Capable of scoring from distance as well as being deadly from free-kicks, and will need to be watched.

James Hayter
James Hayter
Madden’s experienced foil is former Bournemouth and Doncaster striker Hayter, who has scored close to 150 goals in his career.
The 33-year-old is the scorer of the fastest hat-trick in the history of the Football League, after scoring three goals in only 140 seconds against Wrexham in 2004.
Hayter moved to Yeovil in the summer, and has scored 12 times since his move.

7:08pm

Chairman Jed McCrory takes to Twitter to try to reassure fans.

BREAKING TEAM NEWS

YEOVIL TOWN v Swindon Town: Stech; Ayling, Burn, Webster, McAllister; Dawson, Edwards, Upson, Williams; Madden, Hayter.

Subs: Stewart, Maksimenko, Blizzard, Young, Gordon, Cook, Fletcher.

6:52pm

For those who are, like me, interested in this sort of things, Ferguson will wear 33 while Waldon is number 34.

6:52pm

Sam Foley misses out for Yeovil with a hip injury.

6:51pm

So an unchanged Town side from the team which started last week's 2-1 defeat at Brentford, and we will more than likely see the same 4-5-1 formation with Adam Rooney wide on the right and Andy Williams through the middle.

Two new faces on the bench, with youth team players Alex Ferguson and Connor Waldon included in the 18 for the first time having travelled with the squad in recent weeks.

Ferguson is a ball-playing midfielder who is comfortable at either end of the field, while Waldon is a striker who can drop deep to receive the ball outside the box or poach inside the area.

ADVER CHIEF SPORTS WRITER SAM MORSHEAD: "Town need to avoid defeat to keep their automatic promotion push on track this evening, as the embargo hanging over the club continues.

"The Advertiser has requested comment from the club on numerous occasions over the course of the past week regarding the embargo situation and the appointment of Gregory Hall as a director, however that has yet to be forthcoming.

Jed McCrory

JED MCCRORY

"The £1.2million sum the Football League requested to be ring-fenced is believed to be in place, and those clubs owed money are understood to have been paid, but without official confirmation from either the club or the Football League a question mark remains over the situation in general.

"Having gone back to the League this morning, the Advertiser recieved an email in reply which stated: 'We never confirm or deny the existence of an embargo. You’ll need to be guided by the club on this issue.'

"The reasons for why the embargo remains in place have yet to be fully explained, and until then a huge uncertainty will remain at the County Ground as Jed McCrory and his new board try to prove themselves to Robins fans.

"I'm led to believe the situation is a sensitive one, hence the relative silence from McCrory and his board, but now the fans need an answer. We live in hope."

Like the majority of posters I have been glued to this forum every day several times a day for the whole season.

I have seen sensible comments, ridiculous one's, arguments between posters, idiots from other clubs, unnecessary swearing, people pleading with PDC to stay, Andrew Black abused then seen as a benefactor then leaves a car crash, PDC adored then despised, the forum still going strong a 4am on a Sunday morning, posters three sheets to the wind, emotions & expecations at an all time high & lately as low as has been all season, the moaners & the optimists, having to scroll down repeatedly, good healthy difference of opinions, the guv's comments of doom & gloom before the takeover, Sam being slagged off by some & it goes on & on.

However under the headline HALL ADDED TO HOLDING Co BOARD I have never seen our forum so unanimous in opinion that Mr McCrory & our new board are at the very best NON BENEFACTORS & at the worst ........... well it does not bear thinking about.

As a fan for 50 years I will be glued to the box tonight cheering every move & wishing the players & manager the very best of luck at Yeovil.

Haven't read the Adver since Friday so I am assuming the loanees are on the bench. I was always confident that the new board would come good and it is refreshing to see they are keeping the supporters right up to date with any developments. I am also thrilled with the dynamic approach of KMac, he really does inspire confidence and promotion is surely a shoeing. It must be a boost to the new manager to come into such a stable supportive environment and to know that he will receive 100% backing as he puts his master plan into effect.
I have just been out to buy season tickets for my extended family and I can honestly say it is £5 grand well spent and shame on all of you doom merchants with your glasses half empty.

Am at a loss to understand the selection of Adam Rooney out of position wide on the right. He looked like a fish out of water against Brentford in that position, illustrated by a lack of awareness of when Thompson and Ferry were trying to create an overlap. I'm sure he'll try his best but he's a central striker. Why not start with De Vita or Luke Rooney if KMac wants to play 4-5-1?

Fairly defensive formation in a game we really need to win after recent dropped points.

Need to get to the by-line and strong crosses - too many flighted balls which they're clearing easily.

Simon ferry has touched the ball twice in 39 minutes a five man midfield does not work.

Also they have a centre back nearly seven feet tall and as normal we are hoofing it up the pitch

Come on Swindon where has our Fred flowing passing football gone.

Oh yes I forgot our playmaker is at Bournemouth

madterrier says...
8:36pm Tue 19 Mar 13

A terrible pitch makes it difficult to play passing football, and with a giant centre half, high balls down the middle are a waste of time (we'll work that out eventually).

The best way to overcome that pair of obstacles is to get the ball into wide forward areas, quickly, but we don't have the pace to get past the full backs. Maybe Rooney for Rooney second half and switch Williams to the centre.

Pitch is shocking cutting up and a bad bobble could be the deciding factor in this game. McEverley thinks were playing in green and white I am sure what a donkey. Do not know why we are pumping balls up to their 6'6" centre back. No a bad first half but a few on bookings and Thommo booked yet again.

Yeh, he is also working 100 % on how to resolve issues, whats that, how to get all the money out, best players sold and bang us into admin before anyone susses out what he is up to.
I think he needs to come clean and just say what the issues are, you never know it may just ally supporters fears of just what he may be up to.

8:49pm Tue 19 Mar 13

Pitch is shocking, not a great performance but considering the condition of the surface hardly surprising.

Does Tommy Miller actually know he's playing, we nearly got caught out just before half time with him stranded again, he just doesn't have the legs to cover half the pitch any more. Good work from Flint to save the day. Think McEverley is having a good game too, Wardy is looking very nervous and missed another good chance to put us ahead.

For all those that think Williams should play on the wing, not the way he's playing tonight. Still things could get better for him in the second half, but he's looking a bit light weight and timid getting bullied,

california andy says...
8:50pm Tue 19 Mar 13

In all honesty, a pretty dire first half. Thompson was an idiot to get booked. The first foul and talking to was harsh/silly, but after that he had to tread carefully, and the next foul brought the inevitable. He's collecting far too many of these. Very disjointed, Roberts is just too slow, and the high balls in at their end? Crazy. Flint has mostly done well, but we are a slip up or a bobble from falling behind, and seem to have few ideas - though as others have commented the ploughed field we are playing on doesn't help matters. I quite agree, but it would be good for Jed & Co to give some facts, and realistic deadlines and in so doing remove all the mystery, what are they trying to hide, if nothing then tell the truth not the BS they keep giving us.

Agree with the comments above about Flint - he played well tonight and didn't do anything rash. All in all, the lads battled and seemed the fitter team. This will do their confidence a bit of good. Highest scoring club with the lowest goals against, and a goal difference twice everyone else's. horrible first half not helped by that pitch, but good 2nd half performance from town. Wes had nothing to do really so entertained himself by taking on their forwards!! Nathan was brilliant, fully deserved MOM. Flint and Ward also very good. Mcevely solid defensively but still poor crosses in, like he was aiming for their tallest player. Roberts did well to win pen and looked threatening, still convinced he can be a top player for us even though not often delivered yet. Rooney great pen and good flicked effort, didn't think the rest of his game was that great today but cant fault his effort. Willo as others have said far better in 2nd half started getting at them and winning free kicks. Ferry was pretty quiet although still delivered some good passes, Macca was also better in 2nd half, started to do his runs that we all love. I thought Miller was awful, so often he has time and does an aimless pass, 90% of the time up into the air. Good players make it look like they have all the time in the world, bad players make it look like they have none!! Collins did well when on, goal with last kick and another decent effort saved. Firstly didn't expect that result. Tbh I thought we'd lose by the odd goal. Secondly full credit to all those who wore the shirt tonight.
No arguments about Tommo being mom but from my tv view thought Flinty was awesome tonight - cant remember who it was but whoever it was can't agree that we should off-load him - he was passing to feet he was not allowing the Yeovil players to reach the ball.
Also KMac's reaction from the touch line showed how committed he is- I was initially disappointed to read his "well if we have to work with what we've got so be it" remarks but then realised his hands are tied when it comes to available finance.
Jed and co. do really need to demonstrate they're not just in it for a jolly boys outing. Back to the game - in all honesty I'd settled for 0-0 - we didn't look like scoring even though we dominated play- ws it a own? Well I think Roberts was fouled but many refs might not have given it so rub of the green there. Similarly delighted that Joan bagged a rare goal but would it have gone in if we'd not had the pen. cushion? What a win that really was a 6 pointer and this team deserve a massive pat on the back for true 110 % effort tonight well done KM and the players.
Don't normally watch the manager at matches at the CG coz I am there to see the football but tonight watching on TV it was possible to see both and KMac was definitely not standing with arms folded.

What I did also see was the applause for players from him when they made a good play. This was very noticeable when they showed the replay of Nathan's interception/block of the Madden chance in the second half.

Good solid showing tonight. We played better at Brentford but were still well beaten because we fell apart in the last 20 mins. Tonight we got a deserved win because we stayed the course.

Jock,

Agree about Aden, excellent tonight.

The poster you refer to has not commented this evening, he tends to wait until we lose and then blame it on Aden because he feels he has hoofed the ball forward too often.

Many slated Rooney early in the season but now we are seeing his qualities. Superb flicked effort and a great penalty in a game of few chances.

Having seen tonight I can see why we have secured more points away from the County Ground. The players did have a bit more time on the ball but they also looked more relaxed. Can we help with that at the County Ground ?

It would be nice to think we can with the next two at home and the chance to possibly sit top of the pile before we go to South Yorkshire.

Not neg at all. If the board could sort the club out as well as Kevin has done with the team things would be better all round. I think Kevin has been brilliant in the short time he has been here and especially under the circumstances.

I am far from alone with my reservations about the board, and some others have stated they also would have settled for a 0-0 tonight especially given their form of late, better than ours I believe, so a brilliant 3 points.

When Flint first came here he was billed and accepted as , one for the future, in Andy Fitton's words.

Since then he has never quite lived up to the potential many saw in him, he played as he was instructed, which is fair enough. I hope I am correct here in hoping that the arrival of Kevin at the club is not too late to release that potential many first thought he had and in so doing bring him on into being a better player. With Wards experience at the back he has a good mentor alongside him. Now with somebody of Kevin's calibre I hope the combination of the two will help.
Glad to see young Nathan get MotM but getting worried about his growing tally of yellows. I have never perceived him as a dirty or over robust tackling player, but wingers and forwards do seem to target him to draw a card. I hope this can also be sorted in training.
It does seem a bit weird that we as a visiting team tonight got penalised for time wasting when visiting teams at CG seem to get away with murder.
I know its late but my thanks to those who went or watched TV for their match comments here tonight.

Watched it on Al Jareera in Saudi.

Average 1st half with Yoevil edging. Had a gilt edged chance...

2nd half town started playing some proper football rather than high balls and started to take control.

We began to hold the ball up well.

1st wasn't convinced on pen but he was taken out even if he had lost ball. if not it would have a sending off as well.

Great pen and great finish at the end. Where did the extra 5 mins come from.

Mgr showed passion and at attacking spirit by bringing on a striker.

What more did we want?

A solid away win... as you might hope from a promotion chasing team.

PS. The pitch was shocking!.

Wizard I've always rated Flinty from day one - he was immense at stoke and during that purple patch of 5 & 4 nils. Sure he's had a few dodgy games but no more so than Wilma and Joan as prime examples.
I agree young Tommo's card tally is a concern but I'd also say some of his challenges have been scary at times card or no card but then on other occasions his interceptions have been superb.

There was a bit of grit and determination in the second half, all the team worked hard together. Next two games I think will be crucial. If we could secure two home wins, I think that would be enough for the team to push all the way to the end and get the deserved promotion. You write a fair representation of a good team performance picking out Flint in particular and rightly so, then go and spoil it with the stupid remark about James Collins.

Avo point taken but! Collins hasn't scored 16 league goals has he? 13 to be exact. Sorry but both his and William's scoring rates are not great are they? We were cushioned by Ritchies 9 goals and had he still been here he may have added to that total given the number of games we've played since he left what is it 6-7? Pure assumption I know but in my opinion their combined current striking ratio - what? An average of 1 each every 3-4 games won't win us promotion.

Forgetting statistics for the moment, Collins had a goal scoring opportunity of the sort all strikers should relish but often muff it. He weighed up the scope and hit it perfectly into the right place giving the Yeovil goalie no chance. GREAT STUFF i.m.o.
