Lyme lifeboat rescue drifting yacht

3:57pm Monday 1st April 2013

VOLUNTEERS on the Lyme Regis RNLI lifeboat rescued an unmanned 35-foot yacht on Easter Sunday.

The yacht became grounded and then broke its mooring.

The lifeboat was launched at 5.40pm after the yacht was seen to have slipped its mooring in rough seas outside Lyme Regis harbour.

One crew member boarded the yacht to attach a line and the lifeboat towed the vessel to the safety of Lyme Regis harbour.

No-one else was aboard the yacht at the time.

This was the fifth emergency call to the Lyme Regis lifeboat so far this year.
