SWINDON TOWN: Miles secures future with two-year deal
THE added security of a two-year contract with Swindon Town pleased Miles Storey most as he put pen to paper on his new deal at the County Ground this week.
The striker will now remain with the Robins until the summer of 2015, as revealed by the Advertiser on Wednesday, and he couldn’t be happier with the way things have turned out.
Since graduating from the club’s academy a little over 12 months ago, Storey has worked hard on developing his game and forcing himself into the first-team picture in SN1.
While he accepts he is far from the finished article, the 19-year-old has been buoyed by the fact that he now has another two seasons to progress as a player and prove he is worth a regular starting berth.
Storey said: “It’s great just to have the security and relax and be able to play my football now, and really try to push on and develop and get a regular first-team spot.
“At the minute I’m not playing as much but it just means I’ve got more time to develop and I don’t need to panic. I can just play every game as it comes and it’s nice in that way.
“Playing youth team for two years and then in the Di Canio era being used in the last five minutes of a game means it’s tough to make an impact.
“When you’re getting more time on the pitch you can really show what you’re about. It’s all about development at my age and if you’re getting more time on the pitch you can develop more and get used to difficult situations.”
