SWINDON TOWN: Cooper won't rush into loan market despite Mason & Harley injuries
SWINDON Town will not be rushed into making kneejerk loan signings after losing Ryan Mason and Ryan Harley to injury, according to manager Mark Cooper.
As revealed on www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk on Saturday, both Mason and Harley are likely to be out for around a fortnight with respective thigh and medial knee ligament problems.
Mason has seen a specialist in London and could return sooner than two weeks, but Cooper remains light on central midfielders in the interim.
However, followed the performances of Louis Thompson, Yaser Kasim and Massimo Luongo in the middle of the park during the 3-2 victory over Bristol City on Saturday, Cooper has suggested that he may be content to “muddle through” with what he’s got.
He told the Advertiser: “After today we get Pritch (Alex Pritchard) back, after Tuesday we get Nathan (Byrne) back, We’ve got to look at it and say ‘can we possibly muddle through a couple of games without going and getting somebody that’s maybe not right for us or do we panic and get somebody in for the sake of it’.
“We got through with the players we’ve got, they’ve come in and done well and they may have to do it for another game.
“We’ve just been talking in the office and we said all the players who are fit are forwards so we might play seven or eight up front. Why not?
“Louis Thompson I thought ran his socks off, I think he needs heart massage after the game, Dany N’Guessan came in having not played 90 minutes and I thought he was a real threat and there’s Nicky Ajose as well.
“We’ve got players that can hurt teams so we’ll take stock, we’ll see how they are and we’ll start planning for Chelsea.”
