SWINDON TOWN: Fit-again Mason could face County
RYAN Mason will be involved in Swindon Town’s matchday squad for the visit of Notts County on Friday, manager Mark Cooper has revealed.
Mason has not featured for the Robins since the 3-2 defeat at Wolves on September 14 due to a thigh injury, but the midfielder has now recovered and is fit to feature after a week’s intensive training.
Cooper is delighted to have his playmaker available to him once again, saying: “Mason will be fit to be involved.
“He’s not a good player, he’s a fantastic player if he’s fit so that can only help us in an attacking sense. It creates and puts even more goals on the pitch when he’s on there.”
After the 2-1 loss to Preston at the end of last month, Cooper told the Advertiser Mason would be okay to play against Tranmere the following week, only for the on-loan Tottenham man to suffer a setback in training.
The Town boss is confident the same thing will not happen this time around.
He said: “He’s done a week’s training without any issue on his thigh and he’s happy. I think before he wasn’t too happy with it but he’s done a week’s hard training and he’s ready to go.
“He had a little bit of a setback before, maybe it was a little too quick.”
