SWINDON Town fans can expect to see the results of the club’s recent audit by the end of November, according to chairman Jed McCrory.

Financial experts Hacker Young were drafted in by the Robins’ top brass to review the club’s accounts earlier this year, after Town director Sangita Shah revealed no such process had been undertaken at the County Ground for “10 to 15 years”.

The accountants’ analysis of Swindon’s books is now complete, however, and Shah is currently in the process of writing a simplified commentary of its findings to present to the public in due course.

“I would have thought we will be able to get it out in a few weeks,” McCrory told the Advertiser. “Give us a few weeks because they’re signed off, agreed and now we’ve just got to get them out to you with a running commentary format.

“Sangita is currently doing the running commentary on it and obviously she’s got her other duties which she has to fulfil as well.

“The audit wasn’t really a problem, it’s just been a volume of paperwork the guys have had to go through. Electronically it was not as easy as we thought it should have been. They were basically shovelling through the paperwork.

“Obviously everyone wants to get their audits done but it doesn’t happen in football, not a lot of clubs do an audit and Hacker Young are specialists in it.”

McCrory is pleased with the outcome of the audit, which he believes shows that Swindon are returning to a sound financial footing.

“We’ve now achieved it, it has been signed off by David Guest at Hacker Young, Sangita Shah has been instrumental in pulling all the required paperwork together and we’re pleasantly happy with it,” he said.

“It gives us a footing, it gives us a solid base to say ‘this is where we are’ and now the club can start to go forward in the way it should be.

“Again we’ve got the systems and procedures in place, we know the direction of the club and it’s got a really good future, this football club.”
