“I WOULD cycle to every game if we can keep getting results like that,” joked a weary Jeremy Wray.
A little over 90 minutes earlier the Swindon Town director had just completed a gruelling 126-mile charity cycle from the County Ground to Brighton’s Withdean Stadium in aid of the Swindon Down’s Syndrome Group.
And, as Town came away 1-0 winners from their trip to Sussex, it made the efforts of Wray, chief executive Nick Watkins, media manager Chris Tanner and marketing executive Adam Wainwright all the more satisfying.
The foursome set off from Wiltshire on Friday morning, encountering some early problems, but made it to Brighton in time for kick-off and have raised well over £5,000 already.
“We had four punctures in 40 miles, the first just after the Magic Roundabout, and then it started raining which is when we thought it was going to be a long day,” explained Wray, whose daughter Fayina was born with Down’s Syndrome last year.
“We got 80-odd miles done on Friday and then the rest this morning (Saturday).
“It was really good fun, and without Derek and Pete in the support van we wouldn’t have made it. There were six punctures overall, and one pedal came off and flew across the dual carriageway, so it was eventful.
“We are heading towards £10,000 and have pledges from people I have never met, fans and other people, so thanks to everyone who has donated.
“It means a lot to me obviously, but it is a very worthwhile charity anyway and for a relatively small amount, it makes a huge difference to a lot of children’s lives.”

It's very easy to give. And IMO a very decent cause.
Just think if everyone who turned up at the Leeds game gave a quid they'd make there total easily.
