SWINDON TOWN: Now it's a test of nerve - Wilson

DANNY Wilson has called on his Town side to keep their nerve over the final 10 games of the campaign, and believes the County Ground crowd can play a huge part in their League One promotion push.

Swindon have turned from relegation battlers to Championship chasers in the space of a year, and entertain leaders Norwich this weekend in a huge game for both sides.

Wilson insists his players need to remain level-headed in the business end of the season, and is looking forward to a thrilling finale with plenty still to play for.

“It’s all about who keeps their nerve at this moment in time,” Wilson told the Advertiser.

“We are quite calm in what we do and in our approach, and that will be very important as we go into the final throes of the season.

“If we can keep our nerve, keep doing the things we know we are good at, and keep churning out the performances then we’ve got a great chance.

“We’ve got to try and win every game between now and the end of the season - simple as that.

“We don’t know what’s in front of us, and if we had a crystal ball then it would be fantastic because we would be sat back taking it easy, and nobody would be on the edge of their seat because they know the outcome.

“But you just don’t know what’s going to happen and that’s what makes it as interesting as it can possibly get at the moment.

“Should we win on Saturday then it takes us into a very tough game away at Hartlepool and an even tougher one away at Leeds.”

Wilson was delighted with the 2,000-plus travelling army which roared Town on to victory at Southampton in midweek.

And, having only lost twice on their own patch over the course of the season, the boss is hoping to create a similar sort of atmosphere for home games - starting tomorrow against the Canaries.

“The crowd are vital,” he said. “We don’t want anybody biting their nails, sat back and hoping.

“We want them giving us a chance, getting right behind the boys and pushing us forward. That’s all we ask for.

“I think it will be a cracking game against Norwich with two footballing teams really going at it.

“But what we need is that little extra incentive and the home fans can give us that, that’s for sure.

“With a bit of luck it will be the same type of vociferous support that we had on Tuesday night at Southampton - we can’t ask for anything more than that. And then hopefully we will put a performance in to try and match it.”

Come on town fans.....how many times this season has wilson now pleaded to the home fans to make some noise? Everyone knows the atmosphere at away games is generally better than it is at home. WHY?
Tomorrow is such a big game, we need a big crowd and a big atmosphere from the home fans.

Whether the context is correct or not, the expression used in paragraph five, "the final throws" should actually read as final 'throes'.

Come on the reds!

Or maybe it's because the away follwing tends to contain the die-hards,and there aren't many, if any of the prawn sandwich brigade!

Prawn sandwich down at the theatre of shattered dreams you are having a Laff . Swindonians are just shy by nature and don't like to stand out (when sober), We travel away a lot and because we made the effort to get there we always make the effort to shout that bit louder . Norwich have sold their allocation so there will be a lot of damp Canaries on the bank the Robin should outsing a damp Canary surely

A robin is far more aggresive by nature too, so hopefully we will scare the canaries off and bag the 3 points
