THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO DAVID: A red card, a win and a pint of beetroot juice

IT was disappointing to be sent off last week against MK Dons.

On different days you get different decisions, but it was just the way it went.

If you look at both of the fouls individually they probably were bookings, so I suppose I can’t have too many complaints.

It was frustrating to have to sit out a return to my old club Southampton on Tuesday night, but that’s life and it was great to watch the boys get our first win of the season, which was the most important thing.

In patches in games we’ve played some good stuff this season, but patches isn’t good enough and it is no coincidence that when we did it for longer periods against Southampton we got our reward for it.

When things aren’t going so well on the pitch, like it hasn’t been recently, it doesn’t really impact too much on the banter and morale in the changing room.

The usual suspects continue to get stick. Thomas (Dossevi) is a big victim for what he wears and how he wears it.

He’s big into his labels, which apparently goes down very well over in France, but not over here.

Thomas has also got a very different car to most of the boys - it’s not the run-of-the-mill footballers’ car that you expect to see in the car park.

I haven’t got a clue what it is, but it looks like it’s something out of Transformers.

Now Sheens (Alan Sheehan) has joined he will get a bit too, as he’s always been very open to receiving banter and handing it out as well.

The in-thing at the club right now is beetroot juice.

We are all being forced to drink it and it’s an acquired taste, which basically means it’s pretty horrible.

But it’s meant to be good for you and I’m a sucker for that.

The science behind it is that it’s good for your blood, and you’ve got to trust the fact that the fitness coach knows what he’s doing, which I think he does.

Some of the elder statesmen like Dave Lucas aren’t yet sold on it though.

I don’t think you get too many people from Preston drinking beetroot juice and having shots of wheatgrass!

You know, I quite expected Dossy to be different, because that is how he is, different, in a very refreshing manner and way.

Perhaps now Prutts has seen how we playto win he can adapt his style to our winning ways.

Beetroot juice, now that could make a real mess as a bit of "follow through"
Don't think I'd want to be in the laundry room, hahahahahahaha !

What nonsense!

"If you look at both of the fouls individually they probably were bookings, so I suppose I can’t have too many complaints."

You can't have any complaints!

It was no coincidence that when David Prutton wasn't playing, we performed better

I think some people need to cut Prutton a bit of slack...
He is a class act...FACT!!!
The issue is that DW hasn't found the right system yet to suit both him and JD in the same line up....
And maybe there isn't one, but Prutton doesn't pick the formation or system that we play and is far better player than many midfielders that we have had over the years...
Get of his back please!!

More to the point, why do people pick on Prutton instead of Dougie? They both have been poor this season, and we played better when Dougie went off midway through the game!
.
But they're both quality players and I'm sure both will find their fine form again soon! Some people seem to think that players don't have bad patches of form and that they've immediately lost any talent they had after a few bad games. Morons!

If you look at the highlights of Pruttons second yellow, he get caught day dreaming on the ball. If he can get his speed of ball movement back, he's be a real asset to the team. Give him a bit longer to settle and find his feet.

I am quite sure that given a bit more time and encouragement, both David Prutton and Michael Rose will turn out to be assets to our team.

madterrier has a point. He didn't say Prutton is a bad player, and he didn't say he won't come good. Would anyone disagree that the midfield looked confused and lacking drive when he was playing? I wasn't there on Tuesday, but all reports seem to indicate that the engine room had some shape to it for the first time this season. Maybe it's not Prutton's fault that our midfield had been misfiring, but let's not forget that the manager himself said Prutton wasn't getting forward as much as he should be. It shouldn't be impossible for Prutton and Douglas to play in the same team. They just have to make sure they're not both trying to do the same job.

I have to say from the 2 games I've seen of David to date, I have not been too impressed, my main complaint would be poor distribution and lack of movement off the ball, However it has to be said none of the mid-field or full backs have really performed, so agree with other posts and give him the benefit of the doubt, if he can adapt and as Danny has said get forward more and provide a few assist and score a few, everyone will sing his praises. Before his arrival I thought he was a great signing, so I'm hopeful he will start to gel and deliver like we all know he can do.

Why give any of OUR players stick we are supporters lets support,if a player is not pulling his weight and is generally a liability then Danny will/should take action accordingly, that's his job.We have a good manager who done us proud last season and raised our expectations to heights that have not been seen for many a year. The thing is everybody wants everything yesterday its the way our whole society is today.

I remember calling him a "stupid b*****d" as soon as he lunged in. For someone who was already on a yellow it was a ridiculous challenge to make, and at his age he should be controlling himself better.
A classic case of frustration, a build-up since the Brighton game plus he'd just been robbed of the ball after fannying about, & 'lost it' a bit.
We all make mistakes though, & everyone should get behind him (& all who wear a Town shirt).
He will contribute for us this season, he's too good not to, but it's not looking like he's gonna be as dominant & inspirational as I'd hoped he would. Hope I'm wrong on that, & I may well be....
