DANNY Wilson believes Swindon’s fans will see a different Southampton side tomorrow to the one which was dismantled at St Mary’s last week - because they will care.
Town eased to a 3-0 win when the sides met in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, but they clash in League One action this weekend at the County Ground both hoping to climb away from the wrong end of the table.
And Swindon manager Wilson reckons the Saints will have the right attitude this time around with three points at stake.
“They (Southampton) have had a couple of poor results by their standards, and will be looking to put it back on track,” he explained.
“Particularly after us going there and getting a great result, that will be a little bit of a thorn which is still sticking in them. It will be very fresh.
“I think it will be a totally different game to what we had down there. Maybe the mindset of them was possibly that it didn’t matter too much, but now it matters. The league matters and their mindset will be for three points on Saturday.”
Influential duo Charlie Austin and Jonathan Douglas have both sat out training this week with hamstring complaints, but the pair are expected to be passed fit to play tomorrow.
And Paul Caddis could return at right-back having skippered Scotland Under 21s to European Championship qualification.
“Charlie hasn’t been training for a few days as he has a bit of a tight hamstring, and Jon Douglas was the same in the early part of the week, but they both look like they will be okay,” said Wilson.
“Paul Caddis came through his games fine which is good news. He played two very tough games in the space of a few days, so will be having a decent rest and then we will see how he is on Friday.”
