Wes confident at fortress County Ground

WES Foderingham believes Swindon can maintain their impressive home record against Crawley tomorrow night and secure the win they need to climb back into the automatic promotion places.

The Robins will certainly fancy their chances against the Reds, with Paolo Di Canio’s men top of the League Two form table following six wins from their last eight games.

Town have also turned the County Ground into a fortress and Foderingham has yet to concede a goal in a league fixture there since first joining the club back in October.

“I was aware of that statistic,” said Foderingham. “Someone pointed it out a few weeks ago to me and it has obviously stuck in the back of my mind since then.

“It is a fantastic achievement but it is testament to the whole team collectively. The County Ground is our fortress and hopefully it will stay like that for the rest of the season.

“The Crawley game will be a massive one. They are going into it on the back of a big win against Cheltenham and they are up there as well.

“It is really tight at the moment and if we can come away with three points then it will be massive for our push at the top of the table.”

The game will be both Crawley’s and Swindon’s first in a week after their respective League Two fixtures were postponed on Saturday due to the weather.

It was the second blank weekend in a row for Town after the home game against Burton was also called off at the start of the month.

While many other teams allow their players to have the day off when a game is cancelled, Di Canio once again had his players on the training pitch on Saturday afternoon, preparing for tomorrow’s game.

“It is the right thing to do, the manager knows what he is doing and I believe it is showing in our results,” said Foderingam “The difference between us and other teams in the league is that they would probably have had a day off but we have not had a day off, we were back out on the training pitch and that helped us to keep our focus.”

This is bigger than Wembley.

Another 10,000 crowd making as much noise as last Tuesday would be worth a goal of a start. And surely Crawley will come at us unlike Barnet, so allowing Ritchie, Rooney etc to get into full flow.

Big game for Southend tonight away to the Gills anything less than a win for them could seriously dent their hopes of an automatic promotion.
