Caddis switches his attention to the Daggers

CAPTAIN Paul Caddis is focused on helping Swindon start another winning run to help ease the pain of the derby defeat to Oxford and close in on promotion back to League One.

First-half goals from Asa Hall and Oli Johnson secured a 2-0 victory for the U’s at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday to deny Town an 11th consecutive victory.

While Caddis is as disappointed as anyone that Oxford have now done the double over Swindon, he has vowed to do all he can to help the Robins embark on another unbeaten run.

“We are obviously bitterly disappointed to have lost but we are still top of the league and there are still games to go and our main aim is to go on and win the league,” he said.

“I think I speak on behalf of everyone involved with the club that our aim is to get to League One and if I was asked at the beginning of the season if I would take being beaten by Oxford twice but win the league then I would settle for that.

“The game is finished and we can’t go back to it. We are disappointed but at this stage of the season the next game is always the biggest.

“We have Dagenham tomorrow and we will enter that game, hopefully get the three points and get back on another good run.”

Town started well enough and it looked as though it would be their day when James Constable was sent off on 11 minutes.

But, five minutes later, Oxford took the lead when Hall stabbed home from Lee Holmes’ free kick before they quickly added a second when Johnson swept home.

“It was a disappointing result, there is no doubt about that,” added Caddis. “We had plenty of chances but that five or 10 minute spell killed us.

“They got a soft free kick out wide and put the ball into the box and before we knew it, it was in the back of the net.

“They say that it is when you have just conceded a goal that is when you are at your most vulnerable and so it proved as we conceded another within a matter of minutes.

“To get back from a goal down is doable but from two down it is difficult. But the game is gone and we will now look to Dagenham and focus on winning that.”
