  • "I'll be very disappointed if Flint is on his way the guy is a tower of strength at the back but we all know once a player upsets Paolo his days are usually numbered. Huge loss of a big talent if that is indeed the case- and sorely needed height at the heart of the defence.

However we can all speculate on the whys, the hows, and the who's but best to just wait and see how it pans out."

Five Town players apologise for night out

FIVE Swindon Town players have apologised for their part in a drinking session on Saturday night, and have focused their attention on winning the League Two title.

Following Tuesday night’s defeat to Aldershot, Town manager Paolo Di Canio accused his players of celebrating promotion too early, and of showing a lack of professionalism by going out drinking following the home victory over Plymouth.

Alan Connell, Raffa De Vita, Simon Ferry, Alan McCormack and Jay McEveley have since apologised, and a statement released on their behalf said.

“The players would like to apologise for spending a few hours out on Saturday night.

“We have been very professional all season and we let our standards slip at such an important time of the season.

“We, as a group of players, are all focussed on winning the title and want nothing more than that for us and everybody associated with the club, but more importantly for the fans who have supported us so well throughout the season.”
