LEFT BACK PAUL Bodin has been voted Town’s all-time greatest left-back by Swindon Advertiser readers. The former Welsh international, who represented the County Ground outfit well over 200 times, came out on top in a tight battle with John Trollope, a Town stalwart of the 60s and 70s. Andy King and Rod Thomas picked up a handful of votes between them, but it was Trollope and Bodin in particular who proved popular with voters. A delighted Bodin told the Advertiser: “It was obviously a very close thing but I’m very proud of that, when people vote for you it’s always an honour.” Bodin, now youth team boss at Swindon, is perhaps best remembered for scoring the penalty that saw Town beat Leicester in the 1993 play-off final, and took the club into the Premiership. And he added: “I think with Fraser (Digby) winning the best all-time goalkeeper, that suggests that that time was really memorable for the supporters. “When you’e playing in it you don’t realise what you’re going to be part of. “It’s only when you look back that you realise you were part of something special.” Bodin also paid tribute to Trollope, a defender who made a staggering 770 appearances in Town colours - the most anyone has ever made for one team. “John was a fantastic servant to the club and a smashing bloke as well,” said Bodin. “He played a number of years ago and perhaps I’m lucky that the younger element of the supporters have voted for me.” Paul Bodin THE PAUL BODIN FILE HOW YOU VOTED
