YASER Kasim is believed to have been called up to the Iraq squad for their clash with China on March 5.

The central midfielder has been a vital part of the Town side since arriving on a free transfer in the summer and was previously called upon by his national team for their game against Saudi Arabia on October 15 - but turned down the opportunity.

While neither Swindon Town or the Iraqi FA have been able to confirm the call-up, the Advertiser has been told he has been asked to play for his country in their Asian Cup qualifier in Dubai.

Another great opportunity for one of our rising talents.

Yass, you should take this chance with both hands; if it's played over here in China I might even pop along and watch!

I think he should go, probably still be available for Crew this Saturday and the MK Dons game the following weekend.

Wish him luck and hope he will enjoy the experience.

Great opportunity. But buy one way tickets for Cooper, Ward, Reis, M.Smith, Branco, Barker, Reckford, Gladwin, Murphy & Hall, take them with you and lose them permanently!!

Wirral, I'm in Shenzhen and my town top gets a good airing most week-ends on various practice pitches across the city. Shenzhen Ruby are my surrogate team over here - in China league one, wear Red, score lots of goals, concede just as many, fantastic at home, nearly always lose by a couple of goals away.....just like being back home apart from the amazing 40,000 seater bamboo nest stadium. Still they only manage to get a regular 8,000 through the door.....as far as parallels go, they just lost out on promotion this year (as indeed they did last year)...............

Actually, having watched Tuesday's game, I can see what you mean. You weren't the only one infuriated by the propensity to turn and pass most balls won to the back line. If we allow the opposition defence time to get everyone behind the ball before we attack, we'll create as many chances as we have recently: very few. Can we please have the old Luongo and Kasim back who surged forward spraying visionary passes at speed? Please? We are so slow to attack. I also hope that Tuesday was Tyrell's worst game of the season. The only way is up, hopefully.

I have noticed that your post smirg kcab has already received 24 thumbs-downs in the popularity contest, although I am guessing that your usual humour is made with tongue in cheek.
But your post has hit the mark with me, because he is now our worst player for going backwards, and also passing sideways and backwards, and consequently slowing our attacks down.
At the start of the season Yaser was just about our best player, but now he hardly justifies a place in the team.
In fact I was going to suggest that he plays with his shirt on back to front in our next game to make it easier for the crowd to follow the game.
Perhaps our coaching needs closer examination ?
