MARK Cooper looks set to stick with a midfield diamond when MK Dons visit the County Ground after branding the quartet of Massimo Luongo, Yaser Kasim, Ryan Harley and Louis Thompson as strong as anything else in League One.

Swindon Town’s midfield four dominated their opponents in Crewe last weekend and manager Cooper will find it hard to drop any of them when the Dons come calling tomorrow.

Despite having the likes of Alex Pritchard, Jacob Murphy, Dany N’Guessan and George Barker available to him, it seems the Robins boss is ready to steer clear of a return to 4-3-3.

He said: “You look at the players you have available to play and you decide where the strength is. If you look at the midfield four of Kasim, Thompson, Harley and Luongo that’s probably as strong as you get in the top echelons of our league.

“You have to think if we can put them in our team we’ve got more chance of winning the game than if we only play two of them.

“We think our strength has been in the middle of the pitch and if we can get them on the football and dominate possession we think we’ve got more of a chance than if we play two or them or three of them.”

While the midfield might be as good as anything else in the division, Town’s frontline has been misfiring somewhat of late. None of N’Guessan, Michael Smith, Murphy and Barker have netted in any of Swindon’s last eight outings.

“We need them to start scoring goals,” said Cooper. “Whoever gets in those situations in the final third now has to produce if we’re going to have a strong finish.”
