JACOB Murphy would be delighted to see his loan spell at Swindon Town extended.

The Norwich City winger is due to play the final game of his one-month stint in Wiltshire this afternoon and no decision has yet been made by manager Mark Cooper on whether or not to prolong the teenager’s stay with the Robins.

If Murphy had his way, however, he would remain in SN1 and help the club through to the League One play-offs.

When asked if he wants to stay, he said: “I’d love to. It would be good to stay here but it’s down to whether the club wants me.

“I’ve done all I can, I’ve just got to work hard in my last game and then my football will come through. It’s been a successful loan, I’ve played six games out of six including three starts.

“My aim was to get minutes under my belt, professional games, and I’ve done that and I’ve proved I can play professional games. I made a little mistake in the Peterborough game but I’ve learnt from that and that’s the whole point of a loan.”

Murphy is one of several attacking players who have been urged to start scoring by Cooper this week following a recent barren streak during which Town have managed just three goals in five outings.

“We haven’t been clinical enough in the final third but the goals will come,” said Murphy. “We’re creating lots of chances now, we’ve just got to finish it. Pressure can be good and it’s good that they want us to start scoring goals.

“We’ve done loads of finishing, build-up play, going wide through the strikers and crosses in - we’ve been working heavily on that attacking side.”

Its obvious the lad has talent but he needs to apply himself a tad more and chase a little harder. I know Cooper doesn't always play him as a winger so that doesn't help...but I don't want Murphy here on a jolly.
