MK Dons boss Karl Robinson praised “a very good away performance” after watching his side beat Swindon Town 2-1 at the County Ground.

George Baldock’s stunning winner, in the third minute of second-half stoppage time, gave the Dons all three points and helped Robinson’s side leapfrog Town into seventh place in League One, after Antony Kay had cancelled out Michael Smith’s opener for the hosts.

Robinson, who before the match had labelled the tie “a ding-dong cup final”, was delighted with his players’ efforts.

He said: “It was just a very good away performance. I said this was big. I think you've seen how we celebrated, how important it was to us all.

“Our game plan was to be 0-0 at half-time. We felt if we get to half-time 0-0 we have enough quality to go and win it.

“Today, I thought Dele Alli was sensational. But what helped him was Alan Smith. I thought that was his best game in an MK Dons shirt.”
