SWINDON Town manager Mark Cooper has said that Miles Storey currently remains in his first-team plans.

The Advertiser understands Portsmouth, Notts County and Shrewsbury Town are all interested in the possibility of taking on the striker and could make a loan move for Storey during the summer transfer window.

However, Cooper has said he has not been made aware of any interest in the frontman, who netted three goals in Swindon colours last season.

"The story that was in the paper was the first I heard of it. Miles went out on loan to Salisbury earlier in the season, got injured, came back, got fit and went to Shrewsbury," Cooper told FLIC Wiltshire.

"We needed him to go and score a few goals, he didn't, he got some game time but didn't get the goals.

"He came back in and we decided to give him a go in the team, he got a couple of goals and he looked as though he was starting to come on a little bit so that's news to me that these teams are interested.

"I've certainly not heard anything about that interest.

"I think if you look at the strikers we have got, we have Andy Williams who is still under contract, he will start training with the rest of the group two or three weeks after we start back.

"He's looked really, really strong in training. We have got Michael Smith who is more of a number nine than Williams or Storey, we have got young Connor Waldon and that's it in terms of forwards.

"If we don't add any forwards then you would have to say that they are all going to have a part to play so we have to look at where we are.

"We're not in a position where we can go and get another Nile Ranger because those kind of players cost you a lot of money and we only got Nile because of the way he was.

"So you would have to look and say that the strikers we have will have to feature and they've got to help us.

"We've got to work with them and try and make them better which we have done with Miles and Michael Smith.

"People have got to understand that we are trying to teach them a way of playing that they've not really played before so in a way we are teaching them to read and write another language.

"It's going to take them time and it won't happen over night.

"I've certainly not heard or nobody has said to me or nobody has rang me and asked me 'can we have Miles Storey on loan."
