A NEW investor could yet come in alongside Swindon Town chairman Lee Power after he finally saw off Jed McCrory’s attempts to regain power in the High Court today.

In a very short hearing following a two-day case last week, Nicholas Strauss QC, deputy judge of the High Court, found the share subscription agreement between Swinton Reds 20 and Seebeck 87 had been extended for three years last May.

Swinton Reds, the holding company owned by Power, now officially holds 99 per cent of shares in Seebeck, the company which owns Town.

McCrory, who did not attend the Rolls Building hearing this morning, still has an option which permits him to buy back 39 per cent of the shares in Seebeck for a nominal fee, if he wishes Speaking to the media after the hearing, Power said: “If the football club needs it then I’ll go and find it.

“Me and Sangita (Shah, club director) have got to the stage now where the club should be self-sufficient for the next couple of months.

“We’ve had these two or three months where cash flow and income has literally stopped because of this, and again it has been £700,000 or £800,000 that has needed to be injected over the past two months which we didn’t expect to do.

“It’s been a difficult time. If I felt someone could come in and help improve the football club then obviously we would do that.”

Over the course of the case, it was revealed Town had faced administration, a transfer embargo and an end to its existence, if it had not been for the £2m invested by Power over the past 12 months.

There had also been talk last September of McCrory and Power inviting a third investor on-board to support the latter, who was pouring his own money into the County Ground, with little from the former.

In his summing up, Judge Strauss said:”The parties reached a clear agreement to revive the share subscription agreement with a new period for completion.”

At several points in his summary, Judge Strauss said he did not believe the evidence McCrory submitted at the witness stand last week.

His conclusion the agreement was extended in time, means Power was well within his rights to execute the agreement last year and take hold of the club in December.

He said: “I was comfortable that this was a headache. Like I said in my programme notes, this was a headache not a worry, but we’ve had to take plenty of Anadin.

“It’s because of the other case, which will follow shortly, where there’s monies that are missing from the club and it’s only been, we believe, because of that they’ve come up with these lies, put three directors in and try to cause all sorts of problems.

“These are the people that never put one penny in the club and I think the judge made reference to the fact Mr McCrory never had any funds.

“It’s been a difficult time because football fans are fickle, no matter where you are.

“I’ve been in football my whole life, I played for 10 clubs and sometimes people think there’s no smoke without fire.

“Well, hopefully now they can see that’s not a true saying and that the people will now back us and together we can move forward with our football club.”

Let's just hope we never see the likes of the Banbury crowd again.

Yessssssssssssss!! This is the best news for some time.
Lee Power is the only option we had and I for one am mighty relieved he won the case.
I do realize the need for a rich investor and have been expecting such a person to be invited to join the club for some time. Obviously Lee is not super rich and can't "carry the load" on his own. If Lee does not have the contacts himself to find a suitable investor then Andrew Fitton does and he would be the first person I would contact if I were Lee.
Expect to see some interesting times ahead.

We can start talking football now instead of Jed the crook - well what a bloke he has turned out to be and i hope he is seriously scarred from this and the only clubs he can get involved in are sunday league teams. No wonder he got turned down by all the other league clubs like Hereford, Barnsley, Kidderminster,Chelte
nham etc as they saw him for what he was. I seriously hope Jed gets his just rewards and gets absolutely screwed by Power.
I think alot of fans need to take their hat off to Power as i seriously believe he is determined to do well for this club not only with his contacts in the game to help us bring in young and up and coming players but also by making the club more financially sound. Added investment is obviously needed to help and hopefully at some stage we can get that at some stage if not the facts are we will have to sell a player or two to help us. That is lower league life unless that other rich investor comes in and i for one would love Fitton back but will he be part of the consortium that gets involved in the Birmingham takeover with Wray- who knows but for me he would be the guy to help Power stabalise the club and help us move forward.

Great day for our club in very worrying times, and thanks to the judge for seeing Jed exactly for exactly what he is , one very crooked low life liar. Lee Power deserves full backing from the fans and lets not forget Sangita who has held the fort for Lee and put in huge amounts of hours and both deserve a massive pat on the back. Hope the club can move forward now and get some good players in to join a good base of players already at the club. And as much as I hate wishing this on people I hope Jed and his circus clowns get whats coming to them and they end up on the street in cardboard boxes bunch of crooks.
Come on STFC fans go get them season tickets and rally round for Mr Lee Power boy he certainly deserves it.

Such a shame that McCrory has turned out the way he has.

I had a chat with him around the time of the presentations, and he was chatty, positive about his aims for the club, and what he was saying was backed up with the presentations which were well put together.

This was around the time of some very positive actions, like the club shop revamp, the online ticket system, and some good summer signings. It did seem like he wanted the best for the club.

But a year on from all that, the promises didn't materialize, and the true colours of the man look to have have been revealed by the judge.

It has turned out that Fredi's allegations were right all along, so fair play to him. Others had their crystal balls working and their suspicions and hunches were also proved right, although not sure that I would want to be convicted on the evidence on which they based their reasoning....

Personally, I am comfortable with the fact I supported him until the promises turned out to be false and the wrong doing was revealed.

Interested to see how this pans out, I would think his reputation which is already at rock bottom may sink yet further when the 'missing money' case comes to court.

I share concerns though with others that

a) Shah jumping ship after an apparent seven year support for the 'transparent' McCrory

b) The fact Power didn't get the ownership position formally documented

c) Whether Power is as fit and proper an owner as we would like, he has history after all, although with that said the judges positive words carry some weight there, and he has invested money and seen off the rogue McCrory for which we should be thankful. Time will again tell though....

When McCrory took over a lot was said about checking the books etc and having to have the fit and proper person test by the league.
Clearly these checks are a farce as they certainly did not identify McCrory and his mates as having no resources to run a club, apart from the hair rained "concert revenue stream".
Apparently, unlike the premier league, the checks do not require a prospective owner to show what investment he would bring to a club, or has the right business acumen, to take guardianship of it.
He is also facing allegations of stealing large sums of money, which should have been used to run the club.
Ferdi was I understand, someone on the inside who could see all this happening and he or she blew the whistle, albeit anonymously.
If these checks are so lax they cannot identify a dodgy deal going down, I think they should explain why they concluded he was right for our club.

It wasn't all suspicions and hunches though, Wilesy. McCrory exposed himself as a liar time after time. The more he lied, the more excuses were found for him. I'm sure nobody wanted to dislike him or distrust him. He just gave us very good cause to do so.

Anyway... good post. I have a feeling some good is going to come from this, in that it's going to galvanise and unite the club and fans.

Interested to see how this pans out, I would think his reputation which is already at rock bottom may sink yet further when the 'missing money' case comes to court. I share concerns though with others that a) Shah jumping ship after an apparent seven year support for the 'transparent' McCrory b) The fact Power didn't get the ownership position formally documented c) Whether Power is as fit and proper an owner as we would like, he has history after all, although with that said the judges positive words carry some weight there, and he has invested money and seen off the rogue McCrory for which we should be thankful. Time will again tell though....[/p]
It wasn't all suspicions and hunches though, Wilesy. McCrory exposed himself as a liar time after time. The more he lied, the more excuses were found for him. I'm sure nobody wanted to dislike him or distrust him. He just gave us very good cause to do so. Anyway... good post. I have a feeling some good is going to come from this, in that it's going to galvanise and unite the club and fans.[/p]
True Den, the phone call to keep PDC and the never-ending embargo in the early months were an alarm bell. We are definitely in a better position than we were last week so fingers crossed! Wilesy
