Swindon Advertiser: Anton Rodgers, the son of Brendan Rodgers, is on trial at Swindon Town Anton Rodgers, the son of Brendan Rodgers, is on trial at Swindon Town

ANTON Rodgers is part of the Swindon Town squad at Petersfield this evening.

The son of Liverpool manager Brendan, the midfielder, who was at Brighton & Hove Albion at the same time as Swindon assistant coach Luke Williams, made 14 appearances for Oldham last season.

A Town spokesman told the Advertiser that Rodgers is on trial with the Robins, though the Adver understands he is close to being confirmed as a Swindon player.

Stroke of political genius that!

Let's hope Raheem loses a bit of form and needs somewhere to re-hone his attacking skills.

Seems our humble management team of MC & LW have equal or better contacts than even LP.

My thoughts exactly this is a makeweight, take my son if you want X Y or Z so wonder if the left back Smith is the real signing and Rodgers gets to come along as part of the deal.

I'm confused. Yes, I can really understand an interest in Brad Smith at left back as that is a position we are light in.

However, all other news stories seem to be about centre backs, wingers and forwards that are leaving and midfielders on trial or about to sign.

The complete opposite of what Power said after winning the recent Court case?

Am I missing something or is this becoming cheapskate opportunism?
