WITH a little more than a fortnight of the summer transfer window remaining, manager Mark Cooper has insisted that he is not worrying about losing any of his Swindon Town stars.

Wes Foderingham, Nathan and Louis Thompson, Yaser Kasim, Massimo Luongo and Michael Smith have all put themselves in the shop window with terrific performances in Town’s first two games of the season, while the club have already fended off approaches from Peterborough United for Nathan Thompson, Rotherham United for Luongo and Coventry City for Smith.

In all likelihood, those six players are going to continue to gather interest over the course of the next two weeks but Cooper is adamant he will not be distracted from the task at hand - namely making sure his teams keep producing results on matchdays.

When asked by the Advertiser if he would be getting nervous in the final days of the window, the Robins boss said: “I can’t control that so I don’t tend to worry too much about it. I can’t worry myself about ‘am I going to lose this player or that player’ because I can’t control it. I can have an input about it but I can’t control it.

“I completely understand if the right offer comes in they have to go, that’s law of the land. I’ll just concentrate on the next game and worry about it when it comes to it. But if they keep playing like they’re playing...

“If I was a manager of another team I’d want to buy them all. Of course we know but I think the chairman’s gone on record and said that, unless we get silly money, they’re not going anywhere.

“I think he’s watched the games and seen the progress, and he wants to keep it going.

“I’ve stopped worrying about things like that. If I start worrying about that it takes away my energy from thinking about the players are still here. Until I get that phone call, I won’t worry about it.

“We have to keep the production line going. You saw the other night we gave another kid a go. We have to keep giving them a taste because they might have to play, but that doesn’t worry us.

“I think it’s fantastic for the club. We wouldn’t put them on the bench if we didn’t think they were good enough. We wouldn’t put them on the bench just to say ‘we’ve got some scholars on the bench’.

“We’d put them on the bench because we think they’re good enough. Will (Randall) has made his debut, Marshy’s (Lee Marshall) come on, and they’re are a couple more knocking on the door as well.”
