TURF TALK: Jump to it! Wincanton festival leads Sunday charge

JUMPING fans have it all their own way tomorrow with meetings scheduled for Wincanton, Kempton and Hexham.

Wincanton stages its two-day Festival meeting with racing continuing on Monday.

One of the highlights of tomorrow's racing will be a parade of Cheltenham Festival winners at 3pm, set to include Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Denman and Champion Hurdle winner Katchit, trained by Alan King at Barbury Castle.

Combined prize money for the two days is £78,000 with Sunday's feature race the £7,000 Wessex Waste Novices' Handicap Chase run over two miles.

The Wincanton meeting gets underway at 2.20pm with the Mirage Signs Novices' Hurdle, where backers could get off to a good start by having an interest on Chantaco, trained by Nicky Henderson and ridden by Mick Fitzgerald.

Other likely winners at the Somerset course could be Count Kristo in the feature race of the day and High Jack in the final race on the card the Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle.

Kempton's seven-race card begins at 2pm with a Juvenile Maiden Hurdle that could go to the Andy Turnell-trained Haar the mount of Mark Grant.

The Turnell-trained Kew Jumper holds an entry in the Handicap Chase at 3.40pm and could go in again, and in the National Hunt Flat race at 5.15pm the Carl Llewellyn-trained Charlotte Street could hold an each way chance.

At Hexham, the Howard Johnson-trained Player will look to be the best bet on the card in the Beginners' Chase at 4.25pm.
