Star-studded Manor entry

Paul Tapner leads the local entry at the Withington Manor BE one-day event, which runs just north of Cirencester on next weekend.

Withington runs three Advanced sections and the list of entries reads like a who's who of the eventing world. Paul has three entries - Stormhill Michael, Sensational Sydney and Tiger Flynne, who is wait listed for Badminton - and will be hoping the form that also saw him win at this level at Aldon last month continues.

Among his rivals will be Andrew Nicholson who also has three chances - Epic, Nereo and Stormhill Kossack, one of six rides he has at the event, with another four horses balloted out.

Reigning World Champion Zara Phillips has entered a total of four horses at Advanced level, including the famous Toytown, and other top names to look out for include Oliver Townend, Kristina Cook, Bill Levett and Sarah Cohen.

Locals in with a shout include Lechlade's Chris King, who has entered Silver Machine, Prairie Monarch and Top Cat III; Marlborough based Aussie rider Stuart Tinney, with Don Panache and Ari De Gwaihir; Chippenham's Kitty Boggis and Marlborough duo Julia Crowson and Alberto Giugni.

Bishopstone's Rodney Powell will be action in the Open Intermediate section on Master Jack II, where his rivals include triple Olympic gold medallist Matt Ryan.
