HG SMITH raises an important point regarding homosexuals and Christianity.
The modern state, it appears, has its own new religion: political correctness, which it imposes with a fervour that might have gained the admiration of Cromwell himself.
The new morality, in a deeply anti-British, anti-Christian way, demands complete obedience.
Those who refuse (the bakery owners, for example, one of many) are treated by the state as heretics to be punished, as was graphically illustrated by the Christian couple who owned a B&B in Cornwall, refused two active homosexuals to share a room.
The owners lost their case. The modern state, you see, cannot tolerate such unorthodoxy. The couple went out of business.
What is so disturbing about these developments is that double standards are being employed.
Christians are often hounded for their beliefs, yet there would be outrage in some quarters if adherents of other faiths were treated in the same way.
Christians in the NHS, for example, are told that they cannot wear crucifixes, yet Muslims are allowed to wear headscarves.
Under the guise of ‘equality’ laws homosexuals are deliberately targeting Christian establishments, and are backed to the hilt by the modern state.
What I find most disturbing was when Theresa May, Home Secretary, appeared a few years ago on Question Time, she ‘repented’ of her homophobic voting record.
This only came about after some 75,000 people joined a Facebook group calling for her sacking. Power before principles, it seems.
Add to this the arch-hypocrite Cameron’s outburst that we must return to ‘Christian values.’
Weeks earlier he gave his blessing to same-sex weddings!
