Well done Barrie Hudson. It is about time English Heritage were told we are the English and the stuff they are “caretaking” is our heritage, not their private plaything. They act as if they own these places rather than holding them in trust.
There is far too much “Keep off”, “No photography”, “No entry” and pay for a view if you’ve got your binoculars, from both EH and the NT. The latter do us plebs no favours when, as at Buscot House for instance, our membership fees subsidise His Lordship’s accommodation and we are excluded from visiting between October and March! Meanwhile MPs worry about elderly people on benefits having an empty bedroom.
