I read with interest your article on the redevelopment of the Oasis Leisure Centre (SA Thursday September 11). I really hope the plans by Moirai Capital Investments come to fruition and the refurbishment work commences soon. Deadlines have been missed and the work is long overdue.
I visited the centre on Saturday September 13 with my children to go swimming and I wasn’t impressed with the conditions of the changing facilities. I know these haven’t be modernised for decades but this is no excuse for dirty floors.
It also took me 10 minutes to find a locker that wasn’t broken. It was a poor experience. The staff were understanding and mentioned the changing area and lockers would be refurbished after the October half term but couldn’t give a definite timescale.
The Oasis Leisure Centre was once a place for relaxation, a place to take your children for some quality family time together. Let’s hope work starts soon so once again we can have an Oasis of calm and a leisure centre in Swindon to be proud of.
