I could not agree more with my neighbour R Elliot’s letter regarding foreign aid going to the NHS (SA, December 8).
However, we have a council with the same attitude as culpable Cameron. Like him they spend our money on grandiose schemes to suit their inflated egos and sense of importance, as well as their condescending patronising attitude of we know best, without consultation regarding public opinion. At the same time in this town at the moment I have it from a reliable source that Swindon Council are closing child centres, disabled day centres and old age pensioner day centres.
Each of the categories mentioned are the most vulnerable members of a civilised society.
I suggest they all hang their heads in everlasting shame and stop this carnage of the innocents.
If these cuts were put to the general public to vote on regarding financial priority, I firmly believe that common sense from the people of Swindon would prevail.
Why do we not have a say in this matter? After all it is our money they are spending.
