COME on everybody, be honest. The sun is out, the sky is blue, the winter is hopefully behind us.

You can never tell on our little island what will happen next, weather wise.

However, you have to admit the general change in everyone’s attitudes now that the dark nights have gone; being released from a never-ending viewing of television of general banality, confined indoors. Gardeners, dog walkers, nature lovers and bird watchers, bowlers, cricketers, tennis players and golfers — apologies to the too many other numerous categories that are inclusive in my sporting and nature loving agenda.

Not to mention our annual invasion during that brief period of summer of our coastal resorts. When as children we made sand castles of dreams with our little spades and buckets, some of us were lucky enough to have made them come true in real life.

Many though, sadly failed despite their best efforts because of unforeseen circumstances such as the break-up of a relationship, bad health, financial problems or just sheer bad luck.

Here’s hoping the sunshine will help cheer them up.
