AT THE present time everyone is talking about investing in the NHS. The word investment means a profit is expected. The dictionary says that people invest in the hope of making a profit. Therefore, according to the dictionary, money put into the NHS is not an investment because the NHS is not a business that is run for profit. That is not to say that the money spent on the NHS is not well spent. It is just not technically correct to call it investing in the NHS.
