A FIRST rate obituary on Chris and Mary Scott. I knew Chris well for many years throughout the 70s and 80s when they lived in Collett Avenue. As I recall we were both heavily involved in local football.
He was a quietly spoken, quietly energetic (if that’s not a contradiction in terms) professional always and could never do enough for you. And Mary, well with lots of wives of busy men you can almost see their face drop when you turn up on the doorstep. Not Mary, she was always interested, always welcoming, and she meant it.
I lost track of them in recent years but all in all a very bittersweet tribute. Well done the Adver. It’s about time we heard more about ordinary, sincere people like Chris who quietly spent their life helping people or the wider society, instead of wannabe pop stars and washed up politicians.
