IN ALL honesty, I despair at what goes on around us. The nearest I have been to Tunisia is Gibraltar, but I have a grave concern that the horrors inflicted in Tunisia last week could be Bournemouth tomorrow.

The total lack of civil obedience in Calais or, of more concern, the lack of government action on both sides of the channel to control it, astounds me.

Make no mistake, if this continues, I honestly fear for the future of my homeland.

Let us look at the situation in normal context. I have been to Europe and America on a number of occasions.

As a visitor to another country, I have behaved impeccably, as well as my fellow travellers.

As a tourist I had total respect for the rule of law in any state that I had for a brief period taken residence in, and afforded protection to me and my family.

Another point I would like to mention to the do-good brigade, never mind the consequences, they all appear to be well-dressed young men, well clothed with mobile phones and even the deadly weapon of knives. Asylum seekers? With due respect to the ladies, my posterior.
