I FULLY understand how Cilla Black was admired; she was a natural entertainer, good at her job.
However, I cannot agree with the huge outburst of media coverage given to stars who pass on.
It has become the norm to wear our hearts on our sleeve. Being from an older generation, I find the outburst of massive grief shown by so many of the general public almost offensive at times.
Stars provide entertainment and use their special gifts but the public do not know these stars personally.
It seems an outburst of immense proportions of grief is now expected.
Old hat I may sound, but I valued the way grief was shown with quiet genuine respect before huge media involvement.
We cannot compare the loss of a loved one to the outburst of grief shown to public figures. They are idols, not loved ones.
Of course, one has a right to feel sad that a star has gone, but save your grief for people you truly loved and knew.
