Count on racist policy

I AM extremely concerned about the Home Secretary Amber Rudd’s proposal to make all companies publish figures on how many foreign workers they employ.

Since the disastrous Brexit vote, I have personally witnessed people feeling able to abuse foreigners in public in a way which I do not believe they would have felt able to do in the past.

Xenophobia is becoming rampant, and this proposal will only make it worse.

I would urge everyone to write to their MP or to the Home Secretary herself to speak out loud and clear against it.

The Brexit vote was close, and did not command an absolute majority of the electorate, so there is no mandate to “go after” foreigners in this way.

Britain was been made great by our ability to assimilate people and ideas from other countries and cultures, and foreign workers have contributed hugely to our economic prosperity.

This policy threatens all this. We have been famous as a country for our tolerance. This is precious: Do not let Amber Rudd destroy it.

GP is speaking sense

DR Peter Swinyard is wise when he says there is going to be a big GP crisis because there isn’t enough money and conditions are too hard.

Doctors are supposed to heal the sick and that is what they volunteer for in the first place. But they are always having to deal with silly amounts of paperwork and instructions from idiots in politics who know nothing about medicine and real people.

I’d like to think that Dr Swinyard will be listened to but I know he won’t because the people in charge who cause the problems are rich enough to have private treatment. I wonder whether they would change their tune if they had to queue up with the rest of us and be told that our children can’t see a doctor for a week. We are always the ones who have to suffer.

Xenophobia is wrong

THIS country has over the past few days witnessed in the media the most despicable xenophobic language from any mainstream political party for many years.

The Tory party conference, which has just finished, was full of UKIP language. It reeked of xenophobia/Fascism from start to finish and will incite more division and hate crimes across the UK.

Rudd and Hunt’s speech springs to mind in an instant — shame on them!

This is the true face of Theresa (Dis)May’s government.

(Dis)May said she wants to take the government to the centre of UK politics. The past few days have shown that is a lie — it is moving more than ever to the far right.

The rise of the despicable Farage and UKIP have made the Tory government nastier than ever.

I hope the two Swindon MPs, Mr Buckland and Mr Tomlinson, distance themselves from some of the language we have heard over the past few days.
