Tax cash saves babies

SOME economists declare that inheritance tax on millionaires should be abolished.

They claim this tax is so easily avoided by payment of some of the loot to unscrupulous lawyers, who have a talent for twisting the law, that very little is ever collected.

So these corrupt economists maintain that, because the combination of plutocrats and venal lawyers is permitted by a slothful and suspect Civil Service and politicians, to deprive the Government of millions of pounds, a legitimate sum to serve the fundamental needs of the nation, that becomes a reason that the needs of the nation shall be denied by scrapping the tax.

They will explain that there will always be, in a Tory society, more lawyers eager to rob the State with fanciful inventions, than honest ones who seek the good of the population. If that is true, it is only because the rest of us do not act against them.

Before 1948 such economists were apologists for unnecessary poverty and destitution. Today, they know as well as you do, that every premature baby is dependent on taxes which support the NHS.

These are truly evil human beings, using their intellects in a deliberate assault on what civilization means for the sick and dispossessed.

Decent citizens should learn from this vicious inhumanity.

All the fun to end

IN RESPONSE to “Sunday Peace Ruined”, August 30. Dear Mr Collins, please give me the address of the “clowns out cutting the lawn on Sunday afternoon” in Blake Crescent.

We are nearing the end of the summer holidays and the grandchildren have had a wonderful time. Many happy hours have been spent at Stanton Woods and Cotswold Wildlife Park.

Strawberry picking with Auntie Annie and picking plums off the trees with grandad, followed by jam making. Measuring the sun flowers to see who has the tallest, who has the biggest. Watering the flowers, playing in the den under the willow tree at the bottom of the garden, with one of grandma’s picnics.

All this will be annihilated, because you have circus people as neighbours...

EU has been toxic IT IS the EU’s political impact that guarantees peace internally says Sarah Church (Aug 30).

Really? The EU has been ruinous, especially for Greece and for employment generally in many of the EU’s Mediterranean countries.

Maybe Ms Church should look into the impact of democracy for the reduction of belligerence between EU member states.

The EU’s impact has been irrelevant at best and toxic in the extreme, because the EU Commission does not believe in democracy.
