I DO not want to come between Des Morgan and others and Mike Spry who exchange letters fairly regularly in the Swindon Advertiser, in particular the ones about George Osborne. However the one thing I admire about Mike and Des is that they will lock horns over their points of view and opinions. If the quality of letter writers to the SA is anything to go by, then personally I believe it is such as shame that more of these interesting letter writers have not frayed or stayed longer in the political arena. Their views add spice and variety to the diet of mediocrity that I find 21st century middle of the road politics has congealed into.

The SA letters column appears to have far less stodge in it than is currently found in many council chambers or Parliament for that matter. The same cannot be said for the SA’s sister publication the Gazette and Herald and the Wiltshire Times, though their letters are interesting and informative about local issues they are tame in comparison to the SA. The Adver letters page is a far better read than many blogs and I believe carries more weight, with less stodge.
