ALONG with many residents of the Dorcan Ward, I was quite bemused by Labour councillors claiming credit for securing the playbuilder funding for the Richard Jefferies play area.
I am aware of the hard work that I, along with the Rod Bluh, the leader of the Council and Andy Albinson did to support Keith Williams when he lobbied for the funds. I am aware of the letters from Keith, Council officers and myself, setting out the work that had been started and was planned that enabled us to retain over £400,000 of funding. Indeed It was the successful work by Keith and his team that assured the Minister, the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP of Swindon’s case.
However, I am at a complete loss to think of anything the Labour councillors did to support this.
I issue this challenge to the Labour councillors: stop issuing press releases, start producing copies of your letters to the Minister or your emails to his department.
