Our current chairman Lee Power is doing a sterling job.

A football man, he’s played the game, and has been involved at various levels for many years.

Ideally though, I would love the club to one day return to the fans, and be run by a group of people who not only cared passionately about Town, but Swindon and the surrounding area as a whole.

Thankfully there is such a group of people – TrustSTFC.

The Trust has been around for a number of years, but has become more prominent as the club has been passed around from owner to owner in recent years.

On matchdays this season you may have seen and heard the Trust at the ground trying to interest people into signing up.

They have been hugely successful, with 1000 people already deciding to become members.

I am a member and would highly recommend all Town fans getting behind TrustSTFC in their efforts to bolster the links between the community and the club, encourage the club to be fully accountable and, in the future, hopefully have some fan representation on the board.

With many clubs all over the country being slowly swallowed up by foreign investors, and losing their identities, it’s important that supporters rally together and support these groups to protect their club.

To sign up, or read more about TrustSTFC, see truststfc.com or look out for them at future home games.

After taking a break due to International call-ups this past weekend, Town are back in action this Saturday as they travel to Yeovil.

When you look further down Town’s fixture list, the clubs trip to Huish Park becomes even more important with away trips to MK Dons and Peterborough on the horizon.

Thankfully after a month away from the County Ground, Mark Coopers side finally has a home game coming up, with Rochdale visiting Wiltshire next Tuesday.

If Town is to keep up with all the early season plaudits, they know they can’t fall into old habits of lowering their standards against the smaller clubs in the division.

If we have any ambition this season, we need to be comfortably beating mid-table sides at home, and not throw away points as we did so often last season.
