As we watch Town suffer a dip in form on the pitch, it’s been possible movement from the coaching staff making the headlines.

Assistant manager Luke Williams has been linked with a move to Aston Villa, chairman Lee Power has rebuffed an approach from Barnsley for boss Mark Cooper.

As Town enjoys its most successful season in many years, it’s no surprise that other clubs aren’t only interested on our key players, but the men who work with those players day in, day out.

Cooper, Williams and all the coaching team deserve huge credit for the jobs they’ve done this season.

I could possibly see Williams leave if the offer was tempting enough, however, with regards to Cooper unless it was a huge club, or a club close to his heart like Leeds United, I don’t believe the manager is going anywhere.

Cooper knows he has landed on his feet at Swindon and understands other clubs wouldn’t be after his services if it hadn’t been for the perfect set-up he enjoys at SN1.

Don’t get me wrong, he has done a great job at Town, and I’ve happily eaten my humble pie over his appointment.

But his relationship with Power has seen him flourish, and it’ll be very difficult to ever find the stars align somewhere else as it has for him at SN1.

With Town suffering defeats in three of their last four games, it’s this point in the season where we see if this side will sink or swim in the League One promotion race.

As each week goes by the tension mounts in League One, with just three points separating 18th to 9th in the table, it promises to be one of the most exciting finishes the league has seen at both ends of table.

Normally when you see pundits describe games as “must win” you know it can be tongue in cheek, but with Town’s fixtures this week, the term applies perfectly.

It hurts to say it, but I think it’s pretty obvious that Bristol City are now clear favourites to earn promotion, it now comes down to who will be joining them in the top two, Town, Milton Keynes or Preston.

If we’ve got any hopes of achieving the dream of finishing in the automatic promotion spots, it’s the three home games in the next two weeks that will determine whether we are involved in that shake up or not.

Despite there still being sixteen games left in League One, Town can't afford to drop behind Milton Keynes or give Preston the upperhand in the battle for a top two position.

Taking a total of nine points from Crawley, Bradford and Gillingham must be the aim for Mark Cooper’s side, or we will end up being involved in the lottery that is the playoffs.

And I for one could do without that level of stress and anxiety in May.
