IT'S hard to find a word to describe the scenes from Tuesday night.

Nauseating comes close, but still doesn’t cover it.

It wasn’t just the fact we again lost to our neighbours for the fifth time in a row.

But it was witnessing the poor state of the side out on display for the Town fans to watch and support.

After the game on Tuesday opinion between fans seemed to be mixed on who’s at fault for the mess we currently find ourselves in. Is it the manager Mark Cooper or Chairman Lee Power?

Opinions on the manager have always been mixed, ever since his appointment; I included myself in the bracket of people who didn’t think it was the correct appointment when he was hired two years ago.

But last season no-one can deny that himself and Luke Williams did a great job in molding a side together that challenged for promotion.

Going into our JPT fixture, Cooper was missing 8 first team players; any manager in the game would find it difficult to put together a winnable team heading into a derby game missing all his key players.

And that number has increased to 10 as Jordan Turnbull will be suspended and Brad Barry has been added to the growing injury list.

But taking out the injury problems, Cooper has made some bizarre team selections and substitutes with the team he’s got this season which hasn’t worked out, you sometimes wonder if he has any other ideas when it comes to winning a game if the opposition works out how to stop us playing in our normal style.

There have also been rumours of a potential rift behind the scenes in the management team at the club, something that can’t be beneficial to the club going forward.

Along with the manager being criticised for our slump in form, the chairman doesn’t come out of this unscathed.

Owner Lee Power has done a good job at Swindon, he’s invested a lot of money and time into helping us rebuild after a tough period in the clubs history, but I’m afraid he isn’t blameless when it comes to this season.

Putting aside the ridicules press ban that was implemented at the start of the season, which put a negative spin on the season from the start. Mr. Power is in total control of player recruitment, and at the moment our squad looks unbalanced in key positions and in quality.

Along with Jordan Turnbull re-signing, Town only brought in two defenders during the summer, an odd decision, and something that has to be put right before Saturday, as currently Raphael Rossi Branco is the only centre-back available for selection at the club.

Overall, both men have to hold their hands up and say they’ve made mistakes, but neither could have foreseen such a huge injury list, and the one player they have spent money on, Jordan Stewart, being so homesick he’s been unable to settle in Wiltshire.

Whatever the reasons are for this awful slump in form, the whole club including its supporters needs to band together and cheer the side on, no-one benefits from the side being booed or abused.

With the squad depleted its obvious that this Saturday will be another tough day for Town, but one they can overcome with the right defensive signings, and a loud and proud County Ground.
