AS Nicky Ajose calmly put away Town’s equaliser last Saturday in front of a jubilant Town End, it felt like an important moment in this drab season.

After the disaster of a home defeat to Oldham it was imperative the players responded, and thankfully we got a performance worthy of the fans attention and hard earned money.

Last week Town made the news when a fan decided to return all his Swindon memorabilia and bemoaned their lack of passion.

Whatever your opinion of his actions, it highlighted what annoys fans the most - lack of effort.

Last Saturday against Coventry, we saw that passion return alongside a far more organised group all over the pitch.

One player in particular demonstrated his desire to win - Raphael Rossi Branco.

Over the 20 plus years I’ve supported Town I can’t remember a player quite like him. One week he’ll look like someone who has never played the game before and the next, he’ll portray a man who would fit into any side in the football league.

Another player who has impressed inside the gloom has been James Brophy.

The young wing-back has slotted into his role well and has been one of Town’s consistent players. It looks like Town has found themselves another non-league gem.

With not much news about the progress of a new boss, speculation has been at fever pitch as to who will become the 32nd first team manager of Swindon Town.

In previous years when the club has been without a manager, you can have a guess who is in the frame, but with the job specifications so different to any other manager’s job. It’s hard to tell who’s in contention.

With the manager not responsible for the training or buying and selling players, it would be very difficult to appoint anyone with a proven track record, the most experienced name linked to the job so far is former Town midfielder Martin Ling.

But with the way this season has turned out, it’s impossible to predict what will happen next on or off the pitch at SN1.
