Tans and Tiaras

The whispers of last week have turned out to be true: my daughter and her mates are going to the prom in a limousine. The five of them will be sharing one of those white stretch things that you wonder how the driver would tackle a Swindon mini roundabout if he had to.

Apparently we will be hosting a champagne departure for the parents and well-wishers at our house. “You can buy the cheap stuff Dad” well thank you very much! To be honest I am looking forward to it now. I am glad the limo is leaving from our house; it will be a chance to take some photos and wave my not so little girl off.

Something else I didn’t anticipate is the accessories. My wife and daughter have been out shopping for a tiara of all things. The last time I can remember a tiara in our house was on a Barbie doll. The tiara will complement new shoes and hair extensions and then there are fake nails; she has had five years to grow her own but with no success and now come to think of it, to have grown her hair.

Surely the last thing must be this: a fake tan. I don’t think they have considered the risk factor. What if the tan goes wrong? If it comes out orange then she may look like the pumpkin that goes to the ball!
