Let's hope the fans stay after Tuesday

TUESDAY night will live long in the memories of all Town fans after an amazing team display against promotion rivals Leeds at the County Ground.

Every single player had a great night on the pitch and it was the best atmosphere in the stadium this season, possibly even for years.

Watching the Don Rogers Stand singing was a great sight, and hopefully it will become the norm in the future, and might even spread to the Arkell’s Stand!

Another great sight was a full stadium, not something I’m used to seeing at Swindon.

I hope the extra 5,000 fans that came along will come along again and help the team push on for promotion.

It is hard to pick out individual performances from the night but our front two are doing a brilliant job at the moment, with Billy Paynter scoring 12 in his last 15 games and Charlie Austin scoring nine in 10 starts.

It will attract unwanted interest from other clubs, but I'm pretty certain Billy Paynter won't be making a short trip over to Bristol Rovers.

If he wants a successful career then he is much better staying where he is, helping Town get into the Championship.

After being a season ticket holder in the Town End for some years, I was happy to read that in February you can buy a 2010/11 season ticket for just £199. Also, it will also only cost you £259 to sit in the Don Rogers and Arkell’s stands.

The current board have done a great job of running the club since arriving back in 2008.

But if they want to get the atmosphere back into the Town End on a regular basis, then they should reduce the ticket prices on the day, from £15 to £10.

The reason it was so noisy a few years ago, especially in the playoff season in 2003/04, was because it was a much more affordable day out.

Today the team make the trip to Roots Hall to face Southend.

In recent years the Shrimpers have enjoyed great success, but this season have been struggling with debt issues, something that as Swindon supporters, we all know about.

With them losing Lee Barnard to Southampton, who I think was their best player, that will make their season even harder.

If we carry our current form into today's game, we should come away with a sixth away win this season and continue our push up the league.
