Let's hope we can keep hold of Austin

ANOTHER team performance helped Town’s unbeaten run continue last Saturday, and Billy Paynter and Charlie Austin continue to turn heads all over the country with their consistently good displays in front of goal.

It’s great to see Charlie getting all the coverage at the moment, and he deserves all of it. A host of publications and broadcasters, Four Four Two to BBC Sport, are talking about the bricklayer who might end his season playing at Wembley.

What a fantastic story it is for both him and the club.

But there is always a down side to a lot of publicity on a player. With the news coming this week that Charlie might become an England Under 21 player sooner rather than later, it is only a matter of time before more scouts from other clubs come to watch him perform.

When Charlie signed his new contract Andrew Fitton said that he won’t be going anywhere for a couple of seasons, but there is still that possibility that a club will come in for him in the summer with an offer Town just can’t refuse.

But we just have to trust our chairman, and he hasn’t given us any reason not to so far during his time at the club.

Last week we learnt that Sky are going to bring their cameras to the County Ground for the game against Exeter.

With the season coming to a close we are playing lots of games close together so I don’t understand why the club have let Sky move one of our games to a Monday.

That means we are playing on a Saturday and a Monday two weeks in a row. That makes no logical sense at all.

And with both of the Saturday games being away, against Leeds and Colchester, the club have to give the players as much time to rest as they can.

I know Swindon have a contract with Sky over broadcasting rights, but surely we must have some say in our own fixtures. Let’s hope that decision doesn’t cost us in May.

It was great seeing Leyton Orient embarrass Bristol Rovers in early February, which shows today’s game could be a lot closer than their league position suggests.

They are still in slight danger of being dragged into the relegation fight and will be fighting hard, but with us playing better than I have seen any Swindon team play for years we have enough to get the three points and continue this amazing run.
